Spending lots of my time today telling people over 60 that they are safe to have AZ and watching them refuse and wait for Pfizer because they have high blood pressure or had an SCC removed or platelets of 120. So frustrating. Thanks to all the people that trashed AZ

@AstroAugusto Germany mandated N95 masks everywhere for months. Had the same Omicron waves as countries with no mask mandates. It's over. Masks didn't work on a population level. Anywhere.

Even if I wanted to do this to a child, which I don't, this is ultimate in rich, white privilege. If this is how children should be raised, who is funding this for ALL children, all over the world? Or is it just children of wealthy doctors who deserve this? Utter madness.

@demant_daniel @fee_bee_63 One unvaccinated person in ICU. Hope the vaccine hesitancy created by anti-vax doctors didn't contribute to their decision not to be vaccinated. Suddenly advising people to take the vaccine mid-outbreak is evidence of a lack of basic vaccine science.

Hey @RadioNational @normanswan This is the opposite of what you said this morning. You said cases are younger and sicker and that BA5 is as infectious as measles.

Head of ICU at St Vincents Hospital in Sydney tells me there are just one or two COVID patients in her ICU at the moment, and not necessarily there for that reason. She says recent cases are less severe and expects ICUs won't be strained like in previous waves. #covidnsw

The classic privileged wealthy person zero COVID virtue signalling. "Everything is delivered". By whom? The magic fairies? No, by those people who can't afford to live like that. They were not prioritised fir vaccination and caught COVID in huge numbers in 2020 pre-vaccine.

@drphiliplee1 We are always thrilled when we vaccinate someone for the first time. We did four first doses at a small pop up site. Staff were so pleased. Four potential lives saved. You are so welcome first dose people.

@aussieavidread @GregDore2 Melb has just banned families from going for a walk together. Two people only. My two teenage girls haven't had a term of school since 2019, all sport, music, drama, school production, camps this year plus year 11 formal cancelled. This has become cruel.

@jackisaacwise @joegarra61 The problem is anytime we try to talk about the adverse effects of lockdown, you can be accused of wanting a 'let it rip strategy". I think there is a middle ground and it probably is what NSW is doing.

@Fiona_M_Russell This is the harm that is created by anonymous healthcare workers reporting that large numbers of young people are seriously unwell and dying of COVID. Tweets such as these by someone who is not a doctor but claiming to have patients in her care overnight.

This is embarrassing for Australia. A Danish scientist makes a thoughtful, reasoned response to a very biased ABC article, one which promotes a particular product and he gets this abuse. Not surprising is the immature response from the seller of said product.

@DrKGregorevic I've just seen what it did to all my kids. Children of doctors and in a very privileged position. The damage to vulnerable kids will be huge and irreparable in many cases. It's heartbreaking and was clearly predictable at the time. Forgivable early in 2020 but not 2021
