It is unclear how this might impact data in national data-bases (Pharmacy Benefits) that cross state lines though. #HIPAA #Patient #healthData @HIMSS

@drjohnm Epic isn't a national cloud based EHR. Each implementation stands alone. Ever decent Epic implementation in the past mmm 20 years comes with a plan for situations like this. We once ran an OB delivery clinic with just emergency power (during a snowstorm bus hit generator)

As WA emergency rooms overflow, hereβs one possible fix | @SeattleTimes A mobile health team of medical and resource providers in a rural county is based out of a local fire department and one of the first of its kind in the country. #healthinnovation

@David_Ouyang @chrissyfarr That is partly because very little of the data in epic EHR ever was a codified variables (about 5%). The rest are identifiers, dates, and free-text entries so it all comes down to mapping. Cleveland Clinic was one of the first to do it at scale.

@RaisingSqrPegs That is good to hear! I was surprised by how many dogs get cancer (mine is a rough collie but 75% of goldens will get cancer) and how often it returns. I must have just had good luck with my prior ones and Cassie is only 5 years old so I am not ready to lose her yet.

@David_Ouyang @chrissyfarr It isn't "interoperability" at the patient level - "identifiers are removed before any data is moved from a healthcare organization" into Cosmos so it lets you compare 1 to many. Epic doesn't host EHRs itself so health organizations have to opt in to share their data #HealthIT

Although I work in patient centered design & advocacy in #healthIT I also own pets. My Rough Collie is being evaluated for Canine #Lymphoma (biopsy Saturday) so I am researching treatment options. @Imprimedicine is using #AI and live cancer cell to help vets pick treatment

Have always thought that people who are living with a rare disease or a chronic illness could teach the rest of us how to age gracefully.
How do YOU find purpose despite the pain and frustration of your diagnosis? Thank you to these #LivingRareForum panelists from #RareMamas, @wrightstate Boonshoft School of Medicine, and @TheGFFsb for sharing their own insights!

@LovesTiki2 When my mom's breast cancer spread to her liver they tried a phase II clinical trial but sadly no one improved so they sent her home to die. 6 months later she called to ask if she should come back for a follow-up? She is now 15 years with NED (no evidence of disease)

@mikejwhelan Appreciate the update Michael and so sorry to hear about the new challenges. As someone who has been in the patient advoacy space for a long time I know how hard it can be to make a living as a patient advocte. (I always had a paying tech project gig to allow me to do that)

As predicted years ago, the $18 billion @Oracleβs Cerner VA EHR Software Scores Poorly in Internal Report - @Bloomberg @BrodyFord_ No backup plan @VeteransHealth - 4 years since first go live. FYI Cerner/Oracle has 22% of hospital EHR market share

@B_Madden4 Even worse if you take the peak vs IPO and compare it to today. $TDOC for example peaked at 292 in Feb 2021 Today it is 11 or down 96%

@chrissyfarr My Mom is a 10+ year survivor or metastatic breast cancer & @MayoClinic Scottsdale saved her life But their supplemental plan changed in Jan and Mayo sent them a letter saying they don't accept any Medicare Advantage and they can't pay cash. No referrals given. RX running out.
