The day before voting, the @sfchronicle has reported crime has dropped hugely in Oakland this year under @MayShengThao’s leadership. “The city has recorded 67 homicides this year — a 35% decrease compared to this time in 2023” Oakland, let’s not go back to chaos. Vote No.

I understand clickbait-y headlines. But to not list in the article the businesses shut down or not to link to them -- makes the article something that adds to the workload of the reader. It doesn't help them. It tells readers that there is info they need and you don't have it

From a journalism perspective, an article that covers a "businesses shutting down in protest" story but doesn't list the businesses does the reader a disservice. It's like saying "protestors shut down a highway" without naming the highway. Readers make decisions based on news

Going into election, Oakland hasn't had a murder in 3 weeks, only 1 murder in the entire month. It's a staggering nearly 50 murders fewer than the City had under the leadership of O'Malley, Armstrong and Schaaf in late October 2021. On track to have lowest homicides in 5 years
