Delighted to be able to go public with this news! It is such a joy to be working with @HelenG_W and @ellamharold at @FigTreePenguin. Huge thanks to my agent @EverSoBookish and to everyone with whom I’ve talked about English teaching over the years.

@LucyGoBag So many organisations paying lipservice to men’s mental health while not doing a thing to change underlying cultures that foster teasing, heavy drinking and general toxicity. Anything goes, as long as you publish a couple of helpline numbers 🙁

Where are you off to today, English teachers? We’re going on an afternoon train from Purley to Victoria in 1955, and listening to a conversation. Poetry By Heart | On an Afternoon Train from Purley to Victoria, 1955

Excellent post from @stoneman_claire. 'Frankenlesson' definitely needs to be a term. Don't make the thing, the Thing

@BarbaraBleiman @gabrielsnapper Yes! And expert teachers, who know both their subject and their classes, will do this seamlessly and instinctively. There’s no quick way of learning how to do this, no tips and tricks. It takes time and practice and work.

@MrBoothY6 @MaryMyatt Yes. Can we also ban ‘how can I adapt this lesson for my PP children?’ as though PP is similarly synonymous with low ability.
