While out on patrol, Officer Melendrez witnessed a teenager’s board break in half while skating. Officer Melendrez didn’t want the teen to go home with a broken skateboard so he went to a local skate shop and gifted the teen a new one. The teen was so appreciative of our Officer!

After finding a man that had no pulse and that was not breathing, the pair performed CPR until the Fire Department arrived. The man’s pulse returned, and he was taken to the hospital where he recovered. Well done, officers!

: We received a License Plate Reader notification of a stolen car in the area of Jefferson & Marron Rd. Thanks to our officer’s great teamwork, coordination, and de-escalation the driver was arrested for being in possession of a stolen car and evading police officers.
A man armed with a loaded handgun experiencing a mental health emergency in Carlsbad peacefully surrendered at 11:28 a.m., following a 16-hour effort by Carlsbad Police to de-escalate the situation.
It’s surprise certification test day, Heavy! Twice a year, the K9 handlers and their dogs have to demonstrate control and proficiency skills. This includes obedience, detection, command and control. All 4 Carlsbad K9 teams passed with flying colors! Well done!
