This day in Canes history: March 6, 2009 - GHS won the 5A State Championship defeating Clearwater and won their last 20 games that season. Leading the effort was T.J. Hall (21 pts.) and Greg Gantt (19, below). Coach Kelly Beckham delivered the trophy in his first season at GHS.

Starting at QB tonight for GHS at perennial state power Jacksonville Trinity Christian, our own Rod Williams engineered a game winning 75 yard drive in the final 2 minutes, scoring on a keeper from 9 yards out with :18 remaining. GHS wins spring game 17-13.
