Made finals of RC DC and queued for the pro tour and worlds! Honestly a good lesson for myself about taking single events less seriously in prep and embracing the variance.
Deck was fine. I'm very happy with my play the whole weekend. Very excited to get to play more big events.

Wizards of the coast making a tournament series where 1st place gets $50,000+ and 2nd place gets nothing, and then cracking down hard on people doing splits is so fucked.
This is life changing money. Expecting people to do nothing and put it all on one match is insane.

Oh wow this situation was far worse than I imagined. I assumed there was some benefit towards looking at the top card, like turns, but this is just ridiculous.
Rules always need some discretion and good judges use it. That ruling is disheartening and then the rest is disturbing.

Finished 7-0 in the Manatraders series day 1 with mono green.
Polukranos is great and I am very happy playing 4. Same karnboard as always. Am still mostly happy with it.

Well I went 8-1 day 1. Lost feature match round 9 to phoenix. I think I feel good about my play in it though.
Compared to the last six RCs, I've done so little prep for this one (maybe 10% of my usual).
Mental and play is great tho, so just going to carry this deck.

This really matches up with Julian's story. Just that the floor judges didn't perfectly hear the conversation they were eavesdropping.
I do think there are more problems with the tournament structure and rules than the judges that deal with them.

Played three RCQs. Won two of them, lost in the finals of the other. All with Nadu. 18-3 total record.
Deck is miserable and I wont miss it. It is absolutely broken and a logistical nightmare. I am very happy to get both invites out of the way, I really dislike modern.

Played my first rcq yesterday and it was over 50% Nadu (17 players). I was one of them of course. Gameplay was miserable, although I never lost. Deck is so broken.

Ended up 10-4 at 54th. Happy with the result. Will get back on PT eventually. Maybe with the showcase qualifier next month. I'm sure I missed some stuff day 1 due to being awake for 40~ hours, but there were no obvious punts at least.

5/6 of my matches in the MOCS modern qualifier were Nadu mirrors. Whyyyyyy couldnt we have emergency banned this deck? It is significantly above everything else going on in the format right now.
I went 3-2 in mirrors and then lost to mono b in the 6th round.

Discretion is constantly used in rulings at the highest level of play. Context matters and the game is far too complicated to have every ruling planned out perfectly for every situation.

The whole x-2 not making top cut complaints are baffling to me. Like… yes, 8 people did better than you, so now everyone saves time and those 8 people that had the SAME OPPORTUNITY AS YOU to get there now get to battle it out for the win. Why are we complaining? Just do better.

People have been so obvious, loud and careless at past secret lairs involving splits. They really seemed to turn a blind eye to it in the past.
Which might have been wrong for them to do, idk, idc. Ultimate issue is the structure which will always lead to it.

Lost a round in the MT series due to showing up at 7:55 after the round started 10 min early.
Feels silly to start early with a strict 5 min tardiness match loss with there being no notification. I have work to do between rounds. I'm not just staring at the webpage the whole time

There's no reason why challenges have to be so net positive. Why not just lower the ev a ton and let us keep on playing? Remove the play point refund for top 32/64 which is basically a participation prize.

Discussing bad matchups and being met with play advice/anecdote is one of the most frustrating things in testing groups. It's hard to always find the time to get top quality testing so you have to rely on recognizing problems while winning and trust your teammates when they do.

I would run third path iconoclast if you're running profts and fable. But yeah I like this list. I'm still undecided on how much I miss Drake but jegantha is a lot more impactful than everyone says imo.

The main thing I don't love about the number of challenges is that they're so much less exciting individually. I cared a lot more about them when there were only two, not five.
However the game is growing and I do think it's a good thing overall.

Something colorless. Like the temur eldrazi deck Richard Neal won with(selesneal) seems very strong right now. Big weaknesses to combo but beats energy and beat charmaw/blood moon. Breach maybe too

I'm always very talkative and friendly before/between games, so I'd think <5. But I have been told I look like this while playing so I might be wrong.
QT on a scale of 1-10 with how intimidating you think you are AS A PLAYER. Then have folks chime in with how accurate they think you are 😏
Personally IDK how intimidating I am but I think it's above a 5 because I always got people at work doin one of these

Went 7-1 in the trials with bowmaster zoo, winning two byes. But I didn't do them justice and went 2(4)-3 in the main event. Not the best play, was out of it for some reason. Maybe due to barely sleeping on Thursday.
I am also completely off of bowmasters in zoo.

I think the waste not matchup is reasonable but unfavored. It's high variance. Without waste not they are a worse midrange deck. My opps did have some timely waste not topdecks but when they did they weren't able to capitalize quickly. Normal games but consistency issues/mistakes

Down to 0-2 FOW with scaminator or grixis delver. You should expect them to side entomb and haymakers out and prep for a grindy fair game. If they don't, then maybe reconsider.
With decks such as beans, they likely leave in entomb and haymakers, which I imagine changes things.

I might rework the whole manabase. If you know the indantha + vents lists, I think those might be better. Cut basic plains and have a black shock accessible from every fetch.
Also unconfidant about the maindeck flex spots. Was testing EI and druid some, but idk.
