I’ve always gravitated to characters who have to make choices, who aren’t just pawns in the narrative. I found the scene to be the only real one to have effect. To infer I advocate for an abusive tyrant is extremely misguided.

Really love that alien language in Arrival.
Seems a bit far-fetched at first that she's going to be able to understand it at all then as she starts to break it down and label all the parts, it becomes semi-believable. That's good science fiction.
