Fault definitely lies on both sides. Universities have been guilty of "holding hands" while not really investing. When health orgs and universities share an ambition it's incredible what can be achieved. And it delivers benefits for both sectors and for people
The ever growing ideological & political schism between universities and NHS is one of the causes for the malaise of academic medicine. Both must take some of the blame. NHS neurologists should have 2 research/teaching PAs and the university should promote more clinical research

If only researchers could take a "long term view" and get away from the problems of today, like @ass_deans do, all would be well 🤷.

I remember it very well. I was a medical student at Bradford Rd Surgery Trowbridge with the wonderful Dr Steve Rowlands. We had spent half the morning sourcing a TV to set up for the practice meeting. I learnt so much from the late Dr Rowlands and I shared this moment with him
#OnThisDay in 1993, Shane Warne did this at Emirates Old Trafford... The ball of the century. 31 years on. 😍

@ProfBrianCox I know. It was a daft criticism of particle accelerators that they would do this. I think it was a comment in a Freeman Dyson book that there are higher energy collisions occurring in our upper atmosphere.
