. This is a C-130 equipped with a Mobile Airborne Fire Fighting System to act as an air tanker.

At this time the shelter in place has been lifted at the airport. If travelers have vehicles parked at the airport they are free to leave. There will be shuttle busses on the lower level to take travelers off airport for those who need to be picked up.
A BIG and heartfelt ‘Thank You’ to all of the TSA agents at COS. Despite the unfortunate shutdown, our local agents have been incredible keeping all operations running smooth and maintaining the average wait times at the 5-10 minute average.

VLATs (Very Large Air Tankers) are at COS and prepared to offer firefighting support. This is part of a joint effort between COS, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Army Fort Carson to provide a facility to combat wildfires for the 2018 season.
This is the team meeting 200 – 400 family members of fallen fire fighters as they arrive at COS to attend the 32nd IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial service on Sept. 15. This year, 271 names will be added to the Wall of Honor.

Today we remember United Flight 585. The scheduled passenger flight on March 3, 1991 was headed from Denver to Colorado Springs when it crashed.
The memorial sitting area is at Widefield Community Park to honor the 25 victims and is sponsored by the COS.
