This is for 8 year old me, who used to walk through library aisles reading author names and titles, hoping and dreaming of a writer’s life.
Applied for my first artist opportunity in Ontario since moving here. Fingers crossed I get in, and get to build with Toronto and Hamilton artists now that I’m a part of that community. 🙏🏽✨🧿

I’m 31. I’m the age of y’all favorite poets... I feel inferior many times because even though I’ve been writing since I was 8, I don’t have publications at 18-27. No chapbooks, no fulls. NOTHING. I was writing, but “it doesn’t count if it’s not published.” And that’s the problem.

No mag will ever liberate us. I say this as an owner of one & an Assoc Ed. of another. So we will liberate ourselves from those who do wrong.
yesterday, I resigned from my role as EIC of Palette Poetry due to censorship, neutrality, & painful conversations around the occupation of Palestine. I'm sad to leave this way, but I can't work for a company that frames genocide as complicated.
