Last Friday I met some of the brilliant students of King James Academy Royston. The school's hardworking team are a credit to the community - making the most with limited resources in some very challenging circumstances over the past few years. 👏

I've made clear my deep disappointment about Lloyds Banking Group's decision to close the Halifax branch in Letchworth. I will continue to advocate for solutions that ensure everyone in #NEHerts has access to the banking services they require.

2023 saw raw sewage pumped into #NEHerts watercourses for over 4,000 hours, with the Cottered Brook, the Weston Tributary, and The River Quin the worst affected. I've asked Thames Water how our existing sewage infrastructure is supposed to handle 100s of proposed new properties.

Last Friday AM was spent meeting local farmers to discuss an array of matters important to them and the wider rural communities in #NEHerts. Agriculture defines my constituency, and I will always make time for those who are trying to make a fair living out of feeding the nation.

Earlier this week I was able to meet with Little Hadham parishioners to discuss local issues including sustainability, protecting rurality, and flooding concerns. #NEHerts is a big constituency, but I am working hard to ensure I get to every town and village as often as I can.

It was wonderful to meet Roberta Meldrum, the founder of @TheSadieCentre, this afternoon. I learned the impressive story of the organisation's establishment, got to see the estate, and found out about the range of great services the centre provides to the people of Letchworth.

On Friday I dropped by the independently-run Walkern Preschool and met with committee members who told me about the financial challenges that the charity is facing. I am committed to supporting our early-years educators to secure the funding needed to best serve the community.

Yesterday I attended @ACS_LocalShops's Rural Shops Report 2025 launch. The report identifies banks as being the most wanted service, yet outfits like @HalifaxBank are closing their doors to rural communities, leaving many without face-to-face services.
