On Dec 20th, 1989, over 2000 of our paratroopers as part of Operation Just Cause conducted the Division's first combat jump since World War II onto Torrijos International Airport, Panama. Ending Jan 31st, 1990, the operation culminated in the ousting of dictator Manuel Noriega.

Today we had the honor to award Sgt. 1st Class (retired) Marvin Cornett the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during a ceremony in Auburn, California. Sgt. 1st Class Cornett was wounded by mortar fire during World War II near the Mussolini Canal in Italy on January 31, 1944.
