I’m not here to get into a pissing match about “being cheap” and running a business- but the truth is- the small markets have VERY little reason to spend in FA when the landscape the way it is. The Reds have spent $ towards the top when compared to revenue. Cap makes it realistic to spend.

Simple. Grandfathered contracts will be paid out. They will also consider any player making over max contract money a “max contract” and count it towards the cap. At the minimum, this stops teams from being able to sign top free agents every season. League revenue sharing will allow small market teams a chance to get max contract guys, but like the NFL it comes at the risk of losing ability to sign a good amount of mid market guys. Make it muddy for 8 years, to make it reasonably equitable forever. If they don’t do it- the whole thing legit dies eventually.

Today was 69 degrees in Cincinnati. Today I’ve convinced myself the Reds can do it. Unsure if those go hand in hand.

Let’s face it- that’s an absurd amount for a guy who doubled his career WAR in 2024. There’s a very high likelihood he’s not going to perform what’s he’s worth. Love to be wrong

@TBRMTwoDotOh I honestly think the hay is mostly in the barn. It comes down to 4-6 guys we already have and overall health. If we’re in the race, I think they start moving prospects they otherwise wouldn’t have in the past. Due to increased pressure from last year failure, and Elly timeline.

@RedsDaily4 It’s almost like 1 team turned the ball over 3 times and the other team hasn’t turned it over once. Kinda like standing 13 guys in scoring position but being pissed cause they didn’t squeeze in the 14th inning.

They’re 2-3 in the redzone. The lone time they didn’t score was on a run from the 2 with Derek Henry. Then sacked, and 3 and goal from the 8 they threw it. Could have ran a QB run perhaps after Henry got stuffed. Otherwise- They’ve out gained the other team by 110 yards and counting.
