Here is the Royals broadcast of the Nick Castellanos home run.
They were eulogizing someone live on the air when it Nick went deep to left-center field.
You can not make this stuff up.

Imagine telling yourself 10 years ago that Joey Votto would allow ESPN to mic him up while he is fielding, holding a runner on first base on opening day
September, 29 2019 - Reds celebrate an improbable run as they clinch a playoff spot at PNC Park. Bell sprays champagne in Clint Hurdles face. Dietrich hits the go ahead HR in the 9th inning into the Allegheny River and watches it for 20 minutes. Amir Garrett records the final out

Never count the Reds out.

The Reds have gained 9.5 games on the Padres since July 1st. The Reds have pushed the Padres out of a postseason spot for the first time since April.
Never count the Reds out.
12 years ago today. A night that I will never forget. Reds end drought of 15 consecutive years without reaching the playoffs. At times during the mid-2000s, it felt like it would never happen....but when it does, there is nothing like it.
I can't wait for more nights like this.
The Reds now have 6 winning seasons in the last 23 years.
In just 5 seasons as Reds manager, David Bell has been the man in charge for 3 of those 6 winning seasons.
The Cincinnati Reds finish the month of July at 16-9, the best record in the National League.
The Reds will enter the month of August six games above .500 for the first time since 2013.
I consider that a very successful weekend of baseball for the Cincinnati Reds.
Four game split in Atlanta without Castillo & Minor, and even the two losses were tight games.
Plenty of reasons to be excited about this team.
June: Tyler Stephenson called up & takes over as the Reds primary catcher
July: Reds trade for Trevor Story at the deadline
August: Reds call up Nick Lodolo to be the relief ace
September: Reds win first division title in 8 years
October: Reds win first World Series in 30 years
The Cincinnati Reds are 45-39 and have series wins over the Mets, at Marlins, at Red Sox, Dodgers, at Cardinals, at Orioles and Padres . They have series sweeps against the Rangers, at Cubs and at Astros.
The Cincinnati Reds are now 23-14 in their last 37 games.
The Reds are 31-14 vs the NL Central since September 13, 2020
The Reds just clinched their first winning record at the All-Star break since 2014. This is just their 9th winning first half in the last 25 years.
The Cincinnati Reds are now 0.5 games out of a postseason spot with 10 games to play.
It’s been a long ride Reds fans. Enjoy some meaningful late September baseball games.
The Cincinnati Reds are 11-3 over their last 14 games. That is tied for the best record in baseball.
3 games back in the loss column.
Never count the Reds out.
The Cincinnati Reds are now 24-14 in their last 38 games.
The Reds are 32-14 vs the NL Central since September 13, 2020.
The Reds are now 5.0 back in the NL Central going into the final day of the first half.
It's ok to enjoy it.
38 year old Joey Votto had a .952 OPS. This is not normal.
Put him in Cooperstown. Build the statue. Retire the number. Name a road downtown. Give the man a key to the city.
I'm not sure we are making enough about how the Reds just played .600+ baseball during the two most difficult months on the schedule missing the following:
Senzel/Moose - entire 2 months
Gray - 24 days
Antone - 53 days
Sims - 38 days
Castellanos - 14 games
Votto - 5 games

- September 28, 2010: Reds were on the verge of clinching their first trip to the postseason in 15 years. The 30,151 fans at GABP were witness to an absolutely electric environment in a tight ballgame.
What happened next will never be forgotten by Reds fans.

There has been a silly narrative going around that the Reds are dead. Please make sure you tell everyone you know in Cincinnati on Friday that the Reds are a half game back with their final 3 games at GABP this weekend.
Pack the park. Our players deserve it.
I think when you look at how Albert Pujols has aged, you really should appreciate more what Joey Votto has been able to do:
Age 31-37 seasons:
Pujols (2011-17): .267/.325/.470, 117 wRC+
Votto (2015-21): .294/.418/.496, 143 wRC+
This is easily one of my favorite Reds teams of all-time. I have no idea how this season will play out, but every single night they never quit. I am proud to be fan of these players.
The Cincinnati Reds are now tied with the Cardinals for the 5th best record in the NL.
So if some doofus wants to tell you the Reds are only still alive because extra teams getting in this year, the Reds would be in right now under normal rules.
I'm not even sure the Cardinals winning 17 straight games to eliminate the Reds is even in the top 50 of the most unfortunate things to happen to Cincinnati sports fans.
Reds trade their
#23
prospect to the Nats for Roark.
Roark makes 21 above average starts and helps stabilize a rotation that has been awful for 3+ years.
Reds trade Roark after he is no longer needed for the A’s
#8
prospect.
You can’t do much better than that.
