@Imani_Barbarin Who could have imagined that the trauma machine that ranks kids according to ability and normalizes individual competition would not be equipped to address trauma

@atypicalhippy @ItsEmilyKaty @QueerlyAutistic What if I told you that awarding kids for reading is ableist, too? Itās not at all complicated. Just donāt assign value to ability. The irony of people arguing for ableist schooling is that youāre repeating a value system you learned in school. Hierarchy self-replicates!

@shesbonky @penner_connie Not every belief, culture, or religion is worthy of respect. Christian fundamentalism is inextricable from white supremacy. Are you respectful or are you just afraid of conflict? Because as a queer disabled woman, I do not feel respected when people defend those that do me harm.

@AriDrennen Itās giving āreal womanhood is based on how obediently you comply with the threats of patriarchyā which is TERF logic in a nutshell. Also Peru is a great place for solo travel so this has racialized vibes too.

@superloafcat Imagine being this sheltered š 9/11 felt similar to 2016. Everything just ripped in half and you suddenly realized your friends and family were actually terrible people. You felt the creeping suspicion that you had all crossed a line in the sand, never to return.

@AjaSaysHello @DrSamiSchalk Itās killing peopleās perspective on garment care. I make custom plus clothes on the side and when weāre picking fabric I ask people to tell me what kind of garment care they are up for, almost no one is OK with anything other than pushing buttons on a machine.

@emilykmay In a misogynistic society, domestic ability is an innate female trait, not a set of skills. In an ableist society, the monetary value of labor is determined by the skill needed to do the job. In a classist society, a personās value is determined by the value of their labor.

Look at this speciminās bio and feel free to weep into a pillow. We let people like this vote, drive, parent, and legislate š
For an hour or so yesterday afternoon I was using ChatGPT as a research tool and was ready to fly the flag of revolution. It was fetching me sources and quotes that would have taken me hours or days to have found otherwise. 1/

@BRVogt Literally almost no one use their front lawns especially! And the back lawn is a dog toilet for many homeowners.

@CJDipper1212 @fuckyouiquit Food banks often refuse to take this kind of stuff. It should be on these chains to organize a way to distribute unsold food for free. āDonate itā is no more an answer for food than it is for clothing.

So since youāre here, how do you reassure homeowners that are anxious about encountering snakes and ticks? I tell them that the snakes keep the tick population down but that doesnāt help with the fear of snakes.

@fatfabfeminist The amount of mental bandwidth this takes up is staggering. You donāt realize how much space this takes up in your mind until you stop doing it.

@plscallmeky I donāt freak out right in that spot but I often run out of the bathroom if it has Xelerator dryers. They trigger a massive fight-or-flight reflex in me that can result in meltdown later. Itās a big deal!
