I decided to do my phd in a country completely different from mine (culture, language, weather…) and if it was not difficult enough, in this period COVID happened, I got divorced and saw my family become sick an ocean away. I would not have survived without these people! 1/2

Someone I know met a woman who's a Nobel-prize winning biologist and she said "I see you are wearing make-up, that already tells me that you're not focussed and committed enough to make it in science".
