Wow. Just wow. I can’t say I’ve ever seen an explosion inside a tornado vortex. Almost looked like the heat interrupted the spin for a few seconds. Amazing capture, Jordan. Hope all are safe on the ground.
I captured the aurora borealis over Seminole county, Florida and a 10 second exposure using my iPhone just now. The purple sky was about 20 minutes ago and now has turned through a pinkish red.
Exciting news from the Garner family! 🎀 🍼
Next week, we’re welcoming a new addition and I’ll be taking some time off to help out and bond. Our kids are so excited to welcome and play with their new sister. When baby arrives, I’ll be sure to post a photo.
My wife and I are
7:05AM -- Violent severe storms in Tallahassee right now, as Florida's Capital City is under a 'Confirmed Tornado Warning' after an observed tornado rushed into town.
Central Florida could see severe storms later today, especially north of Ocala.
Watch Good Day Orlando.
✌️Today it’s official: 2 years at FOX 35 and thankful to have the chance to forecast weather here in FL! I’ve been fortunate to find a really well-run station in a destination city my family loves. 🌀(Going into my 18th hurricane season in an area threatened by these storms.)

It’s been fun to track your first 90° at Clearwater Beach over the years. This happened on:
🛁 June 18, 2018
🛁June 24, 2019
🛁May 6, 2021 ⭐️
🛁June 15, 2022
🛁May 22, 2023
🛁 May 28th, 2024 ☀️
In the tally it looks like 2021 is the earliest in the last 7yrs?
Hurricane Beryl is already historic as far as being the earliest June hurricane forming this far east, but now it's in another league -- one we typically don't see until Aug/Sept... It's way out of season. It's going to slam the Windward Islands as a Cat 4, with Cat 5 in play.
If your hair ever stands up on end, it means lightning is about to strike and there are streamers of ions coming out of your head trying to connect with a stepped-leader from the cloud. When connection is made, lightning strikes. These people were in mortal danger.

This is a frightening sign. It might be a neat community project to build a simple Faraday cage capable of housing a dozen people at the top of every major peak, especially if it already has the infrastructure of a shelter. If someone stays atop too long or can’t get down in
Congrats to Jayme King for a stellar career in TV meteorology as he retires today. I take the reins on Good Day Orlando mornings starting Monday. Looking forward to lots of laughs and of course, tracking all the weather Florida can dish.

just 7mph from CAT 5 strength. This 150mph hurricane is likely causing widespread and arguably catastrophic damage in an area (The Grenadines) that hasn’t experienced a Category 4 in recorded history.
Good explanation of what you saw last night...for us this far South, we see a lot of the reddish pink because at our latitude, we see the upper altitude mostly. We in the South experienced something very unique and possibly once in a lifetime for those that were curious...

Extreme thunderstorm winds created lift on the wings and direction by its tail, like a giant weathervane, forcibly pointing the jet in the direction of the wind. Remarkable.
Man... Toby Keith was one of the faces of 1990s, "Prime Country" and kept those hits for 30 years to follow. Should've Been a Cowboy was one of the big ones in my gen. Sorry to hear of his passing.
ORLANDO -- If you can't travel to see the total solar eclipse in Texas and the Midwest this Monday, no problem. In just 21 short years (Aug 12, 2045) we'll enjoy our own total eclipse across Florida! Let's just hope it's not cloudy that day.

This is the wildest tornado video I’ve seen as far as an up close and personal demonstration of the raw power of these things. 🌪️ Parked car’s dash cam was rolling.

If you smell smoke across the Central Florida counties of Seminole, Orange and Volusia, it's likely due to the, "Sandy Drain" fire, currently 645 acres at 97% contained. This one may burn for the better part of a week sending smoke as guided by the sea breeze.

AMAZING. Wild skies over Daytona Beach this morning! The Space X Falcon 9 rocket launch at 4:55am is catching pre-dawn rays, resulting a spectacular show of, "noctilucent clouds". You can also see the crescent moon behind the exhaust!
Wild skies over Port Canaveral as a shelf cloud rolls over the waters. A severe storm warning is in place over this area until 7pm for wind gusting past 60mph and hail.

A virtual hurricane (not technically of course) across the Front Range begins tonight. (And people question why an institution like Colorado State University issues seasonal hurricane outlooks… ;)
Tonight will potentially be the worst wind storm in the Denver area in years.
100+ mph gusts possible tonight foothills/Highway 93/Boulder/Coal Creek Canyon. Denver peak gusts likely 60-80 mph range late tonight.
Long-lived, with 18+ hours of 60+ gusts possible.

We've got some seriously heavy rain holding offshore, drifting toward our coast. If this holds together, we'll face some serious downpours this afternoon south of Orlando.
The NHC is sending in a Hurricane Hunter plane at 11:30am to investigate this for tropical development.
Phenomena captured in a storm cloud in South FL. Called a crown flash, it's caused by electrical fields swinging back and forth from lightning activity, resulting in frozen ice needles high above reversing their polarity and their changing positions, bending the light refraction.

, the NOAA Hurricane Hunters just found winds just above the surface at 3,000 feet, of 198 knots -- nearly 228 mph. These super strong winds usually stay above the ground, but indicate a powerful storm. Surface winds are estimated at 165mph in this Cat 5.

Just remember that the storm surge is the key element to consider when planning to evacuate from a vulnerable coastal location or not… Wind category isn’t as important. In 2008, Hurricane Ike struck Galveston as a Cat 2, and almost every home on the Bolivar Peninsula was swept

is rotating over Seminole County as it heads northeast toward the Atlantic, where it may develop into a tropical cyclone 🌀over the next day or two. Only a tiny chance but a chance. We should see more storms picking up later too.
In parts of the Northeast, unusual tropical moisture surging north is inducing rainfall rates we typically see in Florida summer thunderstorms (and weaker tropical systems). Their soil and terrain is no match for 2-3” per hour. Upstate NY and VT/NH most impacted per models.
Over a foot of rain in parts of Ft. Lauderdale with this stalled meso-low. Warm core micro-systems like this (associated with warm front feeding into that developing Gulf Low) can be copious. Exemplifies the explosive dynamics of the subtropics.

Snow in Florida? 🌴
With all this hot August weather, sometimes it's interesting (unless you're a citrus farmer and then it's frightening) to look back at historic arctic blasts in the Sunshine State.
Blue map was Jan 19, 1977 when it snowed a coating in Miami and 2" in Tampa
Just striking. Really great. Perfect complimentary colors in those clouds and an all-around great composition. Time for a calendar to feature your greatest shots.
It doesn't get better than this! What a spectacular start to the day. Distant storms about a 100 miles out on the eastern horizon are creating a striking sky feature. Catch my update on FOX 35 Good Day Orlando.
TALLAHASSEE Take Cover....
6:52 AM - An observed (confirmed) tornado is tracking southeast at 30mph and that storm will arrive in Tally in 22min, close to 7:15am.
These strong storms will track east along I-10 to bring bad weather to Gainesville and JAX around lunchtime.
Pretty much the worst orientation as far as max winds reaching the south coast and max flash flooding potential in the mountains... Major hurricane lashing Jamaica -- the first 'major' since 2007's Hurricane Dean.

Dangerous conditions, including hurricane-force winds and life-threatening storm surge, are expected to continue in Jamaica over the next few hours.
