Tried my hand at writing an article about Mono Red as we approach
#NRGCHI
and Magic Con. I go over my deck choices and why I don’t play bad cards. Additionally there are some tips and tricks for getting the most out of the deck. Let me know what you think!

Long story short I don’t want to talk about at all:
I lost my passport between my flights so I couldn’t get on the plane to Amsterdam. I got a deferral so I will be back on the pro tour in February.

I won the RC and seeing that George is discovering his aggro arc is still the craziest thing that’s happened to me this week.

I’m excited to announce that I’ve evolved as a burn player. I have learned that burning people in the face is not as great a feeling as I thought it was. From now on I will be burning their morale with card advantage and impossibly slow gameplay.

I was able to capitalize on an opponents mistake by casting pwf and bottoming a useless card in order to top deck one of like, 7(?) outs and win a close game 3 (on r2 feature).
Anyways card only does 2 damage. Casting 1 mana time walk in burn/prowess is bad I guess.

It’s wild to me how much I have enjoyed playing competitive magic casually at a local level. The people who go to my store are just good too. Makes me feel like I’ve leveled up a lot in the last two years.

Played my last local for the next two months. taking a break from format magic to go play 60 card kitchen table magic with 13 year olds at a summer camp.

Went 5-1 to lose in the QF today in an rcq in Madison. Beat 2 mirrors, 2 beans, a tron, and lost to timeless amulet and then coffers in the QF. Pretty good day overall. Pretty happy with burn going into NRG Madison.

Went 5-3 today with blood burn. Started out strong then lost in the later rounds. Honestly the deck is super fun and definitely has some room for optimization. Excited to see how far I can take it.

Burn is working to replace eidolon: a 2 mana do nothing enchantment that often deals 0 damage and slows down critical turns while being an awful top deck. It often hurt you more than it helped and is bad.
In unrelated news people think roiling vortex is the go to to replace it.

Went 6-2 today with a loss to scam and a loss to 6 leylines of sanctity.
Got 25/209 and feel pretty good about that. Jammed play with fire today, will jam pwf tomorrow.

At about 1:03:00 for about 3 minutes they talk about losing a league match to blood burn. I'm not 100% sure i was against them but god it's funny to hear people be upset about losing to Pioneer format staple Vampire's Kiss.

The banning of fury and as a result the fall of 4C and rise of jank may be enough to make Eidolon playable in burn again.
Lack of solitude and leyline binding decks make sure you get your minimum 2 damage.
Or it could still be unplayable. Gonna test tonight.

Some kid at my camp is playing Fecundity Skirk prospector goblin storm. Another is just straight up playing legacy burn. The range of decks is wild and cannot be contained.
