@MitoPsychoBio Not all cytokines promote inflammation. Most famously, IL-10 strongly suppresses immune responses. For many of them, their functional effects depend on context, abundance, microenvironment, cell types involved, and other factors

@MitoPsychoBio @NBoydGibbins I would think so but i am not aware of compelling evidence showing that definitively. It stands to reason though that once in the acceptor cell’s cytoplasm, nuclear genome-encoded mito genes would ultimately modify transferred or transplanted mito.

Bidirectional #mitochondria transfer swaps T cell mitochondria with those from cancer cells to impair anti-tumor immunity. Check out my News & Views in @Nature summarizing this incredible paper by Ikeda et al. Nature 2025

5/ #MitoWorld hosted a 30-day public commenting period so we could solicit feedback from the community before peer review. Nature Metabolism kindly published this an open paper to maximize accessibility (kudos and thanks!). Let me know if you have issues accessing the PDF.

Glad to be part of this study! Thanks Hannah and Chris for allowing our mouse skills to come alive in a clinical paper. It’s a great way to establish a clinically relevant model for future studies.
