honestly not a fan of how dark kink as a coping mechanism for trauma has become normalized as a talking point. sure it's true for some people but in my experience most of the time people are just into weird shit and theres no deeper reason and thats literally fine

the tldr here is basically: my trauma did not create my kinks and people who arent taumatized are allowed to enjoy their partner saying no during sex or getting beat up until they cry or calling their girlfriend "big sis" just because it's hot to them

kink can be a good coping mechanism but for a lot of us the desire existed before the trauma, and this framework often only extends sympathy for bottoms/subs. this is how you get people who will happily say ageplay is ok but still think all dom•mes in the space are secret pedos.

plus i used to feel guilty about my kinks that werent informed by trauma (i DO have some that were but thats not the point here), especially those my abusers used against me. and in that way teaching myself that i didnt need justification was part of the healing process!
