@sadarlo1 Any time I hear about this kind of malarkey (or talk to the two folks I know into it), I'm always left baffled. It's like they went how can we suck all the fun out of just being in love, and then they invented this systematised, itemised, billed, reported, adminified thing.

@IrishTimes It's very odd how globally this is framed. This is like British colonials demanding an African state renounce its past. The unionists are colonial descendants. Welcome to stay, but not to demand the indigenous people abandon heritage to abate their squeamishness.

For those in #writingcommunity and #poetry who get depressed with rejections. Always worth remembering editors work extremely hard, & 'not a good fit' 99% of the time = 'not a good fit'. Just had a piece I like picked up by a very solid journal. Prior rejections: 62. #art

@constans Begins with television & the death of working men and women's clubs. Next comes the anti-intellectual wave in the second era of TV & the absolute erosion of the idea of the working class communities that taught each other. Scores more waves followed. It's a trackable process.

@andrewhoyer Supporting places like Starbucks is a big part of the reason for this. When we move control of our local amenities to mega-corps, they will use their power to sweat revenues. They simply do not care about the individual. Avoid all chain stores whenever possible.

@zhuphilia I literally just had a very similar discussion elsewhere, over the strange way in which 'accessibility' has become tantamount to a moral play, when it is purely an aesthetic (and I'd say a demonstrably poor one) choice. Those who oppose it are more often than not 'immoral'
