No. I published my first book July 2019, second book December 2019, third book September 2020. I received a Bookbub Feature Deal November 2020 of that year and began making a solid four figures each month after the Bookbub Featured Deal. Some people go full time after one book, others don’t make it there until they have ten books. The genre, whether you’re in KU or wide, and a number of other factors are going to figure into the equation.

@DarynFaulkner I don't care. I like linguistics. It's kind of fun to mix things up.

@stephenRB4 X. I didn't use this platform much until it became X, so the transition has been easy.

@S_D_Donovan It is sad. Some folks are so sensitive these days.

@WilChanWrites I understand, but once again, the people that buy ebooks aren't whale readers, so it's a totally different audience. My sales vs page reads are usually around 30/70. The 70% of page reads is more than I made when my ebooks were wide.

I’m an indie author because I am a black conservative Christian and trad publishing was like, “Excuse me?! Where is your victim narrative??? So I decided to forge my own path. It’s been a great experience. And you’re right. The tide is turning! My clean and wholesome romance series has really picked up in sales since late last year.

I works well for some genres and if you have a series. The people who binge on KU don’t buy too many hard copies of books because they are whale readers. It would be costly to buy 20 books a week. So, the audience in KU is completely different from audiences on other platforms and paperback/hardcover audiences.

@DaveEDanna So true! If you’re alive, you can choose a new path. Every day is a chance to change your life. You’re living proof of that fact.
