Hi all, our work from Greg Hermann's lab on embryonic organelle asymmetry in C. elegans is up @Dev_Bio_Journal We characterize vast organelle asymmetry during epithelial polarization and show that Rab GTPase recruitment controls asymmetry of endocytic LROs

@DrBPChamberlain recommending Albert’s as if it’s a summer reading list is so funny to me. Also fuck “The Double Helix” - this is propoganda meant to distract from the fact the double helix idea only came to them after rummaging through Rosalyn Franklins primary data (which showed a double helix)

@Ryan76589177 alphafold has not directly - the ability of AI tools to dock billions of hypothetical drugs to a receptor to create a curated hypothesis list of candidate drugs is an incredible advance (like Irwin lab/ucsf or JK Lyu). But this is not what alphafold does - Or is necessary for

Just a reminder to everyone - Victor Ambros was denied tenure after publishing the 1993 Cell paper at the core of this Nobel. It was “just in worms”. A strong example of not letting external validation get in the way of great work.
BREAKING NEWS The 2024 #NobelPrize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Victor Ambros and Gary Ruvkun for the discovery of microRNA and its role in post-transcriptional gene regulation.

Shoutout to @NEBiolabs for their manufacturing process. This enzyme is old enough to vote in the 2024 election and it still digested as expected today 🫡

@JanciToxDoc @P_J_Buckhaults @Kevin_McKernan Yeah this was a joke. Could you link to the nasal transfection article? I’m always curious if any of my plasmids end up transfecting me, especially since I have so many packaged in AAV

A fantastic cover (and I guess some findings too) from the brilliant @josueregalado96 and @andrewtoader out today in @CellCellPress !! To properly consolidate this paper, please read this paper today and re-read for 7 days. Then be amazed at the remote recall you experience!!!!!
Memories from long ago are thought to exist in a different part of your brain than new memories. 🤔🧠 My work with @andrewtoader suggests a new role for the anteromedial (AM) thalamus in selecting & stabilizing memories into long-term storage! 🧵1/7
