"DON'T YOU HEAR ME CALLING YOU MISS HONEY?!"
Excited to share the trailer for my documentary short film "Miss Honey: the Catsuit" about the audacious Moi (pronounced Whaa) Renee, featuring the talented ballroom icon & fashion designer Douglas Says.💚✨
Yesterday at the HBO premiere for The Stroll, a documentary about Black & Brown Trans sex workers directed by a Black Trans sex worker. Held at the meatpacking district where the girls once worked.
Such a raw and beautiful fucking film. A necessary piece of history. ✨
So much of being successful is being popular. And so much of being popular is proximity and positioning (and desirability). Talent often takes the backseat.
Someone close to you is:
Gay
Trans
Queer
Non-binary
Living w/ HIV
Battling an addiction
Struggling to survive
Struggling to thrive
Struggling
Remember that the next time you open your mouth to talk out the side of your neck.
@ThereGoTerry
I've worked with him before. I'd say he's more guarded than not nice. I also don't think folks need to constantly be "on" or "nice," it's exhausting.
Bey not having "any opening acts prior", or that DJ Khaled being an "opening DJ" like the queer DJs at previous concerts & he just happened to bring out misogynistic & queerphobic artists, doesn't change the fact that there were non queer/trans artist on BEYONCÉ'S stage.
Last night I screened a piece of Miss Honey for the first time. Words do not do the experience justice.
I'm very proud, and grateful. I cried during the screening in celebration for Moi Renee's story being expressed and witnessed by community.
This is only the beginning. 💚✨
Taking a break from my social media break to share that my short film, Miss Honey: The Catsuit, has been accepted into two festivals... including one in JAMAICA!
What an honor that part of Moi Renee's story will be screened in his home country. 💚✨
Are you a bottom because you've been fucked into that role, are you a bottom because you don't feel confident as a top, or do you bottom because that is where your pleasure is derived?
This past weekend I started filming my documentary on the incomparable Moi Renee. Grateful & thankful to Spirit, and to everyone who contributed/participated in making this happen.
DON'T YOU HEARING ME CALLING YOU!?💚✨
Spent yesterday helping my sister relocate from DC to NY. She's still in need of assistance and support so if you got it on you, donate to her GoFundMe (below) or bless her CashApp @ $ameirah or her Venmo @/thevainone
We have a DC based Black trans women in need of help. Please donate if y'all can, or share with folx you know can support a community member in need with funds or other resources for safety and security.
Her CashApp is $Ameirah
Twitter, do y'all thing! ❤️
GAGGIN! Thank y'all for all the love on this photo of me and husband. He ain't on social media, he was "WOW!" when I showed the QTs and replies. He appreciates the love for us and for his fit and boots. 🖤🩶✨
Black [queer] creatives shouldn't have to be their own agent, project manager, social media manager, editor, PA, administrative assistant, etc etc etc... just to create.
Still gagged that this vvhite, skinny, able bodied, male pop artist said... with conviction... that *checks notes*... "this doesn't happen to people like me very often."
Today
@donjarlove
and I celebrate four years of marriage. I don't have anything profound or poignant to offer, I just know he makes my heart and soul smile. And I'm thankful for every moment we have together. ❤️
@inaribriana
Met through a mutual friend when he was visiting NY. He thought I was straight at the time, which is funny cuz I was low-key tryna smash his home boy.
After years of keeping in touch, and trial and error, we made it work.
Married six years. 💖
Y'all love to discuss how much power this woman has but now ppl want to shift the accountability when she's being called out/in.
Y'all think she wasn't aware of who's sneakers are touching her stage? As meticulous as she is... Gtfoh.

I was sooooo expecting this to be some jff/of content or a message about how joining the military was a mistake or something.... I played myself.
Introducing my brother to Janet Jackson. He just heard "Would You Mind" for the first time. Now I'm putting him on to the wonders of her music.
What a joy! 💖✨
NYC p*lice arrested my sister Qween Jean today during a protest. They brandished their "power" and aggressed a Black Trans women who has been fighting for the liberation of tgnc and queer...
The day before Pride. The streets finna carry.

Imagine how many Black writers he could have employed if he stepped back a bit. Imagine how much more nuanced and colorful these stories would be if he created space for other voices and perspectives.

The Kenya Barris cinematic universe expands with his latest collab with Rapper Vince Staples in Nigga-ish, coming soon to Netflix.
@tylerperry
Congrats! This is inspiring. Now imagine how many Black writers you could have employed if you stepped back a bit. Imagine how much more nuanced and colorful these stories would be if you created space for other voices and perspectives.
This Is Me... Now (the album) is also good as a standalone project separate from the movie. Jennifer Lopez did a good job on this album, one of her best I think.
Midnight Trip to Vegas, Hummingbird, This Time Around, and Rebound are my faves.
I hope A Strange Loop winning the Tony opens more doors for Black queer and trans stories, storytellers, and theatermakers.
I'm so happy for them, truly a masterpiece!
@Black9jaIcon
No, I'm saying queerphobic people SHOULDN'T be on that stage. And yes, having queer artist in that stage in LA would have easily solved my first statement.
@EW
For those who are rightfully upset with yet another interracial Black gay couple in creative storytelling, there's a animated film called "Pritty" directed by
@terrance_daye
that features some Black on Black queer love!
This notion that Jennifer Lopez "can't keep a man" is cringey and misogynistic. Like, maybe it *could* be her but maybe sis ain't putting up with these men and their nonsense, maybe she won't settle. Maybe we should mind the business that pays us?
The way Donja R. Love continues to amaze & inspire me. 💖
I'm never not in awe of how massive his heart is, the level of care & commitment he has for his communities: Black queer and trans folx & ppl living w/ HIV. The space he makes and holds for his people is filled with love.
Inversely, do you not bottom because the way that you're desired and the people who desire you don't permit it, do you not bottom because of an internal/external shame, or do you not bottom because you don't derive pleasure from it?
I spent 90% of my 2020 confined in my apartment... Being annoyed by, and annoying tf out of, both my husband and my cat lol...
Grateful.

This was heartbreaking to watch, but I so truly appreciate his vulnerability and candor. I wish men gave themselves more space to feel & to be soft.
And Taylor has a new fan in me! As a storyteller, I aspire to foster conversations like this and the dialogue around it.
@MojoDisco
Not me thinking this was a signed copy from LNX.
But damn grams, not an LOL or nothing. The "your Grandmother" so your not confused as who is playing in your face. You really hate to see it. AND you owe me a new magazine!
