@Thumpsquids @AndyHerren Look at Marsha P Johnson. She lived as a trans-women. But, until her death Johnson described herself as a gay person, a transvestite, and a drag queen who used she/her pronouns. The term transgender wasn't used until after her death.

@Thumpsquids @AndyHerren Because being 'T', until the early 2000s, was to be gay. Trans people weren't considered a sub-group. They were gay men who dressed as women. Or 'butch' lesbians.

It's not reasonable to assume she chose NOT to be viewed as transgender. The term wasn't an option for her.
