Fire in the lab.
Luckily I have smoke detectors in the house. I was able to put out the fire quickly! A lithium polymer battery exploded and caught fire. I will no longer use LiPo batteries.
The battery was new and not connected.
Today I finally found some time to build the second frame for the HP measuring devices. I think the result turned out quite well. The frame is open and all devices get enough air.
HP 8757C scalar network analyzer, HP 8350B sweep oscillator and HP 7470A Plotter in combination to measure an LP filter. Plotters are simply beautiful! 😁
My HP85B finally has an HP 7470A Potter. A beauty! 😍 First test with the space shuttle was very good. I am amazed by the plot quality. The paper transport rollers must be replaced.
The first 256QAM signal is simulated with the Rohde & Schwarz AMIQ02. Displayed via the I/Q outputs to the Agilent 54832B and then on the HP 8981A Vector modulation analyzer.
New to my collection HP 8753A Network Analyzer 3.0 Ghz. Repaired the power supply, adjusted the analog display driver and the first test was ok, but the phase lock was lost.
I built a new environmental measuring station with Bosch BME 280 and MightyOhm Geiger counter. The station is intended to replace my previous measuring station. The new station has been greatly simplified and only runs with ESP32. I'm just starting the outdoor testing phase.
Finally repaired!
The HP 54520A oscilloscope is back in its place. All capacities replaced. The old ones go in the box for broken vintage electronics.

I'm testing some SMA cables with the HP 8757C Scalar Network Analyzer and HP 8341B Synthesized Sweeper. The results are documented on the HP 7470A Plotter.
HP forever! 😍
These HP displays are older but beautiful. Very sharp and bright image on the HP 1332A. The HP 1340A has a certain sluggishness when building up an image.
Who also has such displays and what are they used for?
A few attempts with the HP 8753B Vector Network Analyzer and the HP 9872C Plotter. The VNA struggles when 4 makers are active and the plotter has to be controlled at the same time. 😁
Does the HP 8753 have a 68k CPU?
An attempt to read the RTTY messages decoded by the R&S GA 082 with the HP 4951C protocol analyzer. The RTTY signal is from the German weather service.
I use this Wandel & Goltermann Level Meter SPM-19 as a sideband receiver for the RTTY signals from the DWD German weather service. The RTTY signal goes into the Rohde & Schwarz telegraphy analyzer GA082. From there via a serial interface to the HP 4952A protocol analyzer.
The Rohde & Schwarz I/Q modulation generator AMIQ02 is alive again. I was able to save the OS and the old hard drive and clone it to a CF card.
The AMIQ can, among other things, quadrature amplitude modulation. It is controlled via WinIQSIM.

The first test with a HP 8972C plotter (H. Potter) 😉 The sound of the mechanics is very nice. It can be supplied in eight different colors and up to DIN A3 panels.
The Rohde & Schwarz ZVRE Vector Network Analyzer also works with HP-IB devices. This makes it possible to use an HP plotter such as 7470A to be used on the VNA. Personally, I think the HPGL results from HP VNA are a little better.
I finally built myself a high-quality cable for calibration. Each cable is shielded and has high-quality connectors.
Unfortunately the PDVSmini does not have an extra shield connector. 🤓
Troubleshooting the HP 5334A Universal Counter. The internal highly stable crystal oscillator drifts after 2h. Monitor all voltages on the power supply.
Today on the bench, an HP 54100D Digitizing Oscilloscope with 1Ghz bandwidth and active probes. An interesting device with 68k CPU and a very nice display. Using the menus is a bit difficult.
I have a problem with the GNSS disciplined oscillator. I have a GPS look but the alarm LED lights up and my 10 MHz reference signal is not correct. I dipped the internal OCXO to test but without success.
Does somebody has any idea?
While I was repairing the HP 3325B, the HP 54520A oscilloscope died.

Setting the hight stability time base with EFC on a HP 8644A synthesized signal generator. I measure the frequency with an HP 5334A and control the measurement with an HP85B. The measurement output is more accurate by one digit after the come on the HP85B display.
The HP 8481B power sensor can measure 1mW to 25W without an offset on the HP 438A power meter and can do so up to 18 GHz. The attenuator is part of the power sensor system.
I will carry out a few tests.

Started developing a program for the HP85 to log long-term measurements with HP 3478A or other HP multimeters.
I'm trying out many features to make the program compatible with many devices.
I have an HP 8662A signal generator with a broken power supply. After the first inspection I found the obvious damage, I hope it is the only one. Two capacitors in the high voltage area are broken.
That is confusing. I query the HP-IB address 13 from the 5334A counter and also get an answer from the 3455A voltmeter that runs at HP-IB address 10.
Who knows the problem?
HP 54845A 1.5 GHz oscilloscope calibration. I hope all channels are ok. It is a really very good oscilloscope.
I'm still looking for the latest software update. Who can help?

HP 9000 310
Suddenly the HP hard disk in the HP 9153C repaired itself and an initialization was started. I am trying to install the HP Basic 5.1 on the hard drive.
Upgrading an HP 5335A universal counter with an HP 10544A crystal oscillator. After installing the oscillator, a jumper must be removed. A first test is successful, the oscillator warms up.

It helps me to fully calibrate the HP 3455A and all others like HP 3456A HP 3478A HP 3457A HP 34401A.
The internal reference from the VNA differs. Therefore my measurement of the crystal is not entirely correct and is always slightly off. I have to correct that first.

I have received this beautiful HP 9000 310 computer. The hard drive spins up but won't boot. Trying to boot BASIC from floppy works. But the disc 3 has an error and it stopped. I'm trying to create new disks. I have to try to create them with an HD floppy disk drive.
I discover the HP 5370B Universal Time Interval Counter. A transistor in the power supply was over 80 °C. This temperature is a bit too high. It is a Motorola with the HP part number 1853-0411. Is there an alternative to this transistor? I haven't found anything on the internet.
Another HP 3325B synthesizer / function generator for repair. Two problems number one: the power switch only turns off the fan. The device itself stays on. Problem two: Fail 021 amplitude too high when calibrating.
I repaired the two HP 4952A protocol analyzers. There were a few problems with the power supplies here. At the same time I changed the Rifas.
Next I will load software for example VT 100 Terminal Simulator. 😎
