Jeremy Urena has been dominant filling up the zone this year with a 63.5 Strike% (2.25 BB/9). His Sinker at 8.6 IVB and 17.9 HB has given him a 84.6% ground ball rate leading to a 3.09 ERA. #gorhody @FaveDischer @RhodyBaseball

Spent the last couple weeks getting to observe trackman data from HS players varying in age and skill. Interesting to see the strong correlation between velo and IVB/HB. Slower velo=more time to get to plate=more time for ball to move leading to juiced movement numbers.

18 games in and @thughes_34 is holding batters to a .172 BAA while maintaining a 3.38 ERA. Saying his slider is a banger is an understatement with -20.6HB and 3.4 IVB it is no surprise he has a K/9 of 14.6. #gorhody @FaveDischer @RhodyBaseball @BristolBluesCT @PPNConnecticut

High school baseball players looking to separate themselves. Many division I programs are at or under 55% fastball usage. Colleges need guys who throw plus off-speed. Get used to throwing breakers in any count. #collegebaseball #pitching #offspeed @nextlevelbb @FlatgroundApp

Taking a look at P5 pitchers (15+IP) that lead the country in hard hit ball % + Walk%. All of these guys have a sub 4 FIP. Weak contact and little to no walks will always lead to success on the mound. @TJStats @NextLVLProspect @nextlevelbb

The game is changing the average DI team scores 6.8 runs per game. Your minimize from 4 to 2 runs means more than you think it does. Teams are scoring at higher rates every year.

Making an adjustment where we stand can make a big difference in how our pitches play. Sean Sposato made an adjustment releasing the ball 28.2 inches farther toward the 3B side and here’s what we have now. 2023vs2024. 🧵1/3

We see more and more pitchers getting injured as the years go on but still remains the constant battle of velo vs pitchablility to make a jump in a level Ex. HS to college or even college to Milb you have to throw hard enough unless u are an extreme outlier. [🧵 1/3]

Which outing is better? Outing 1: ● Walk ● Hard-Hit Double Play, ● Rocket Double ● Strikeout Outing 2: ● 3-2 Nub-Shot Base-Hit ● Infield Hit ● 2 Strikeouts ● Rocket Double ● Strikeout Reply with your thoughts. 🤔 K% is way more important than K/9.

Many players don’t have a point in the year where they’re not trying to throw harder, but this is what is necessary for them to get to the next level. The constant chase of triple digits leads to no rest time and extreme wear and tear on the arm. [🧵 2/3]

Stuff+ is the best determination of how good your pitches are. When looking at how to increase our stuff+ we need to know what factors go into it. velocity, spin rate, spin axis, vertical and horizontal movement, release height, side and extension are all taken into factor.

The easiest example is Chris Sale. Metrically there are players with better stuff but taking into consideration his release height and release side he’s able to score higher in stuff+ compared to if he threw “normal”.

The two devices clearly have differences, when taking price point into consideration the Rapsodo still has a use if you need to maintain a budget. It's important to realize the two will not spit out the same numbers. When going back and forth between units data isn't consistent.

With making this adjustment we have seen a bit off a difference in his movement profile. 2s/SNK is now farther away from the dead zone. CH is starting to have its own shape with some more depth, SL now has a bigger profile at the same 74-77mph range. 🧵2/3

Plyo balls are one of my favorite tools for pitchers. When getting hot to go into the middle of the game should we throw them? Our goal in the game is to throw the 5oz ball in the zone.

@NextLVLProspect @nextlevelbb @CoachMarcusHill @TJStats @The_BPCsj Called strikes plus wiff. Great determination of how the pitch is in game compared to Stuff+ which is just grading the movement profile.
