One of the biggest anthropological anomalies to me about America is why Mexican borderlands has bizarrely high social cohesion for its diversity when everyone predicted that it would be a clash of civilizations between the us and Mexico again.
More diversity is supposed to lead to ethnic tensions, but it doesn't in California. We have fewer race problems than the Midwest and Northeast, and when racial issues flare up they look similar to what happens in those areas. It's all Black Nationalism.
