How could patients on antifungal prophylaxis still get infected by “susceptible” fungal strains? We try to crack this puzzle with a 5-year patient and mycobiome dataset from @MSKCancerCenter and 219 fungal genomes from three continents. 1/n

@DrPHO_ID @tmhohl71 That’s an interesting point. All the breakthrough infections and the gut colonization of C. parapsilosis events in this study happened during neutropenia. We didn’t check which patients were “more immunocompromised”. I can’t access metadata anymore but others there may look it up
