On Friday I spoke to Natalie Fornasier, who is immunocompromised due to her stage IV metastatic cancer. She told me: "The narrative that COVID is 'inevitable' and we should just 'let it rip' so we can get over the pandemic quicker - well it’s eugenics and ableism at its finest."
It's odd that the PM says the public are the "boss" of politicians. If we're the boss, why has the public outcry to hold Andrew Laming to account seemingly gone unheard?

No word yet from PMO
@ScottMorrisonMP
This is a chance for the leaders to show they care about young people.

Last night Morrison and Albanese attended a debate that young Australians barely participated in.
TDA - with an audience of 350K - has put in a request to hold a debate that will include young people.
We enrolled in record numbers, so we're feeling good about democracy

When Barty was down, she didn’t smash her racket. She didn’t blame the umpire. She simply played the game.
An unbelievable match!!!!!

“Just because a woman is granted her basic human right to use her voice - and uses it to call out injustice - it doesn't mean that she's being 'loud' by doing so." -
@TamePunk
Incredible to think that eight years ago Ash Barty quit tennis and took a two year break from the sport.
Now she’s the first Australian woman to be in an Aus Open final since 1980.⭐️👏

"There was a mistake. And so what? It's happened out of a million vaccinations. Move on." - Brad Hazzard on private school boys getting the Pfizer vaccine. 😬
As the fastest growing, youth-focused media organisation in the country, I am thrilled to be taking on the role of Editor at
@TheDailyAus
. At TDA, we are committed to delivering digestible, accessible news to young Australians.
Within days of reporting on the 4 women who have died by violence in Australia this month, another female has died, with a man known to her charged with her murder in WA.
Now 5 women in 17 days have died through domestic violence. Tragic.
Today
@TheDailyAus
sat down with
@AlboMP
to discuss the issues that are important to young people. The interview will be up soon.
@ScottMorrisonMP
over to you! Young people are eager to hear from you.

Victorian healthcare workers will be given up to $60 extra per shift for the next four months.
It comes as a Melbourne nurse started a petition asking VIC Gov for a COVID disaster payment due to the "dangerous and unrelenting work conditions".
"Some large media organisations have become so powerful and unchecked that they have developed an attitude and corporate culture that considers themselves beyond being held to account" - from the media diversity in Australia report
Deputy Leader of Liberal Party Sussan Ley in 2015 on adding an extra 's' to her name:
"I read about this numerology theory... I worked out that if you added an 's' I would have an incredibly exciting, interesting life and nothing would ever be boring."

10 days ago, NSW had 168 COVID-19 patients in hospital and 21 in ICU.
Today, NSW has 382 COVID-19 patients in hospital and 53 in ICU.
More than double.

I asked the NSW Minister for Energy and Environment,
@Matt_KeanMP
, if Morrison should attend the Glasgow conference. He said: “The Prime Minister should certainly be representing our nation at one of the most important global conferences we've seen in decades.”

NSW Health has confirmed to
@TheDailyAus
that the Hillsong event breached public health orders.
"NSW Health has requested Hillsong immediately stop singing and dancing at an event being held in the Newcastle area."
Ashleigh was sexually assaulted when she was 13 years old.
Her perpetrator wouldn’t spend even one night behind bars despite his admission that he repeatedly raped a child.
Instead, he was sentenced to just 200 hours of community corrections order.
So excited to share that this week I’m starting my new role as political journalist at The Daily Aus.
Please send any and all stories/tips/donuts to billi

Police will not fine Hillsong for the event which breached public health orders.
"NSW Police have attended an event in the Newcastle area and spoken with organisers. Following discussions with organisers and after consultation with NSW Health, no infringement will be issued."
Also, climate change was barely mentioned last night.
Yet 84% of TDA’s audience (predominantly under 30) said climate change was a top issue for them this election.
Young people deserve to be included in the conversation.

Today’s 9-letter word in the target master was “mansplain”. And I got it before my dad and partner, which gave me more satisfaction than it probably had right to.
"Today is not a day for me to list out a list of further actions," Scott Morrison says this morning, following a speech on the sexist culture in politics.
When will be the day??????

Brittany Higgins spoke to me for

After concerns there were no Auslan interpreters at the last 2 NSW pressers, a spokesperson for the NSW Premier told

: "As our steady economic reopening continues, the NSW Government is actively exploring ways to continue the relationship with Auslan interpreters...
The reporting of cases in NSW is so confusing. If they're going to tell us what was recorded since 8pm last night anyway, why not just change that cut-off time?
NSW recorded five locally acquired cases of COVID-19 in the 24 hours to 8pm last night, two of which were announced yesterday morning.
NSW Health has also been notified of seven new locally acquired cases overnight. These cases will be included in tomorrow's numbers.
My Uni lecturer quotes today: "Democracy, then, means that the people rule by selecting the wisest, most intelligent and most human to tell them what to do to be happy."

The entire theatre laughed. 😬
This week, I sat down with

The 27-year-old also said: "My community can't afford to get COVID-19. I know I can’t, because it will require hospitalisation… For the chronically ill and disabled community, it isn’t something we can simply ‘schedule’ into our social calendars."
Now, women march into the future armed with the rage of our individual stories that are as different as they are similar, our collective courage and the resilience of the generations of women before us who, like us, will never give up.

The youngest daughter of the Biloela family, Tharnicaa, hasn't known a birthday outside a detention centre.
On Saturday, the Australian-born girl will have her fourth birthday in hospital after she developed untreated pneumonia in a detention centre.
Tharni is very distressed to be separated from her sister and dad for the first time in her life. She does not understand this is temporary, despite Priya trying to reassure her.
This also means that Tharni will be in hospital for her 4th birthday on Saturday. 2/

Excited to share my new position at
@TheDailyAus
as Editor-in-Chief!
I'm looking forward to growing our diverse content offerings, including podcasting, polling, video and newsletters.
We have big plans this year, and I can't wait for you to see what we have in store.
It's official: Australia and New Zealand will host the FIFA Women's World Cup in 2023!
What a moment it will be for sport in Australia. Make way for the Matildas 💛💚💛💚

I previously wasn't for
#pilltesting
as I aligned with the argument that laws are there for a reason. But 5 deaths in 4 months? The solution is not education OR pill testing, it is both. This is about minimising risk to society - what we elect politicians to do.
As NSW plans to give special freedoms for fully vaccinated people only, there are still questions about what benefits will apply to people who have had COVID and are advised to wait up to six months before getting their first dose of vaccine (due to reduced risk of reinfection).
And if you're not familiar with The Daily Aus, we're a social-first news platform for young people (and everyone else who enjoys our content too!)
We're predominantly on Instagram where we reach an average audience of more than a million people a month.
A Republican in North Dakota just won a seat in the state legislature. Only thing is, he died of COVID-19 last month.
Seriously, this election just gets more bizarre by the minute...
