I don't get rattled easily but this makes me feel sick. The National Weather Service said 1/2 the city of Lake Charles floods when the river reaches 13 feet. The forecast surge up the river is expected to crest at 15.6 feet! #HurricaneLaura . 78,000 people call Lake Charles home

People stuck for 12 hrs in 20 degree temperatures is unacceptable. Forecast was as accurate as it gets 12 hrs before it started. If I-95 in Virginia doesnβt have the plow/salt capabilities for 8-14β of snow it should have been preemptively closed. @JoshNBCNews.
@VaDOT Been stranded a mile north of Courthouse Rd since 7pm on I95 south. You need to either get a lane open or get us off! Your weak explanations and updates are not good enough!.

#Helene will be a BIG storm with wind impacts far from the center. Tropical Storm wind field will be approx. 400 miles wide & tall. Big storms also move more water so surge is more of an issue far from the eye.

So, last night I tested positive for COVID. 1st time for me (so close to making it past omicron wave π‘) Thankfully, because of vaccines Iβm fine. Typical headache, congestion & scratchy throat. With my home studio I can work right thru the blizzard while in quarantine #CarryOn.

Iβm very appreciative of @NBCNews for letting me cover Laura from home. I have elementary age children not in school & their mother is an essential worker. (medical field) Would have been a lot easier being in the field than home storm coverage, no sleep & taking care of kids!.
@MSNBC @BillKarins @cesarconde_ Watch the Weather Channel all day yesterday. It would have been nice to see Bill Karins get off his duff and actually quit pontificating from his cushy home studio! Thanks to @arivelschi for the coverage he actually did live!.

#HurricaneOtis is now a Category 4 and still getting stronger. Could be a rare Category 5 landfall tomorrow morning into the city of #Acapulco. Rarely in recorded history has a storm this strong threatened such a densely populated area. Especially with so little prep time.

For my Florida friends. only focus on the "getting weaker" talk for #Milton if you are in the path of the eye or max storm surge. For everyone else, Milton's tropical storm wind field will double in size and be almost as big as Helene at landfall.

Residents in #NewOrleans are being asked to limit water use because of power outages affecting the cities ability to remove wastewater.
We have worked to obtain backup power for some of these stations & we will mobilize those units when it is safe to traverse the city. In order to prevent sewage backups, we have asked residents to limit water usage at home, thus decreasing the amount of wastewater we must remove.
