"Football is the property of the people. The poor have very little access to happiness, they do not have the money to buy happiness. Football, which is one of the few things that the poorest maintain, but they longer have it."
Sergio Scariolo was in charge of all the wacky special teams plays the Raptors run.
Just know if Toronto gets into a shooting slump, he will be pulling plays like this as trump cards.
I’m all for it — this offense is begging to improve.
Congratulations Fred VanVleet, fans called for him to take a step back, he gets the most assists in a single game in franchise history.
Fans' reaction? Pissed.
I don't get it
Scottie Barnes becomes just the third player in Toronto Raptors franchise history to score 20 points on six or fewer field goal attempts, joining Muggsy Bogues (Mar. 3, 2000) and Alvin Robertson (Dec. 17, 1995).
Special Scottie!
I understand comparing the Raptors and Celtics is redundant at the moment, but you see how much help they’re providing Tatum/Brown?
We can’t even get ANYONE to help Siakam.
This is the play I’m talking about, Nowell passes up on a wide-open 3 from the top of the key, instead finding Gradey Dick who had relocated to the wing.
Nowell’s IQ + playmaking combined with Dick’s off-ball movement and 3-point shooting.
Raps
Correct call from the Bills/Bengals/NFL.
No need to put players through this, they want to know their brother is okay. That’s what every friend would want. Reassurance.
Play this game on Tuesday or Wednesday, but who cares right now.
🙏 Damar Hamlin.
Toronto Raptors at Summer League:

Clutch Scottie.

The notion I’m seeing about Temple being your ‘locker room guy’ when you already fully guaranteed Thad Young $8million to be that is crazy.
A total of $11.2million on locker room guys when your team is already fighting the tax and without direction is… a choice?
Potential* Raptors and draft positions
RJ - 3rd overall
Scottie - 4th overall
Kuminga - 7th overall*
Moody - 14th overall*
Otto - 3rd overall
Jak - 9th overall
Gradey - 13th overall
Never ever seen a Raptors team be this heavy on lottery picks, it’s insane to me
Breaking: The Raptors are in conversation with the majority of the NBA.
They are in demand… a trade will happen and if it doesn’t I’ll be extremely surprised.
Hope the Raptors hire without caring about fans’ opinion (unlike the Udoka thing which I think was put out as a feeler).
Remember the discourse about Nick Nurse when he was hired? Fans were wrong about him.
If Hammon is the best interviewer and candidate, hire her.
For me, there are four options to pick from for the Raptors:
1. Find a trade partner for Pascal Siakam
2. Find a trade partner for O.G. Anunoby
3. Get Siakam a star next to him right now (e.g. Dame)
4. Keep with what you have
@KOT4Q
Hey Kenny, I got through 8 months of writing every day this year but I’m going to make it a full 365 days next year for a special cause
All my stuff can be found
Mainly Raptors with some draft
It’s also clearly not his fault that he’s the perceived dealbreaker in both cases.
Let the kid play basketball you know just sometimes. Does he really need this outside noise and uncertainty?
@GTJGotNext
I’m just never discussing free agent targets with Toronto ever again; we either don’t sign any or whoever we sign turns out to be garbage when putting on a Raptor uniform
@heyhalima
Both Raptors broadcasts show betting so much, TSN does first bucket, SN does parlay before the game. It’s all too much
A lot of people have failed but at the end of the day their pockets are full and nothing will happen to them for causing this mess
Ended off today’s space by saying that I’m glad Scottie Barnes has this opportunity.
Whatever your expectations are, whatever happens, it’s committing to a direction and trying to build with a potential franchise player.
That’s the best thing from free agency so far.
If any aspiring writers (or people up for a challenge) are interested in my challenge and wants to tag along then here it is...
Can you write and publish an article every day for a year?
My topic is the Toronto Raptors, and I started on Jan. 1.
Here:
Twitter is down so a reminder that Pascal Siakam is the only player in the Eastern Conference to average 20+ points, 7+ rebounds, and 6+ assists.
One of four players in the entire NBA.
@TheJoeMarino
Apparently Daboll was the only coach McDermott didn’t talk to pre-game. And I can absolutely vouch that McDermott speaks to the opposition coach before the game, he had a good 5 minute chat with Doug Pederson in London.
Tanking Raps fans are entitled to their opinion, but there’s NOTHING ya’ll can do about it now.
Either continue praying to lose (for no reason anymore) or accept it and watch the games with a view of wanting to win.
Look, I’m not team win at all. But I’ve accepted it.
I understand the Tankinh Raps fans but they're rooting for a team that doesn't exist. As the szn progressed we've gone further and further away from that but they haven't changed thier views at all.
Nick Nurse controlled the minutes well before a battle with Milwaukee, which is on a back-to-back. VanVleet led the minutes with 36; Siakam and O.G. Anunoby 35; Gary Trent Jr. 29; Scottie Barnes 28; Jakob Poeltl 25.
More recap:
@gtjangels
Isn’t this what all Raptors fans wanted Nick to respond with tho? She’s under contract ha, she would have all the pressure that Nick had falling on her if she said anything different.
Before the Nick Nurse fallout, I published a season recap on All-Star Pascal Siakam.
- Preseason expectations
- A flying start to the season
- His injury
- Eastern Conference Player of the Week
- 52-point explosion at MSG
- All-Star
- Some improvements
