Repeating myself here but in my view if you want to build a team that can sustainably compete you need five things: 1. A clear strategy & structure 2. A manager who's aligned 3. Money to invest in the squad 4. Good recruitment 5. Time / patience People refer to the last 20yrs

Still seeing a lot of Everton & Newcastle fans bringing Spurs into the debate as one of the "cartel clubs" when talking about FFP - which both shows a complete misunderstanding of how we got to this position and also feels like it actually makes the opposite point to the one -

Every year I'm slowly drifting apart from Tottenham Hotspur. Fighting for nothing every year. No accountability. Toxic positivity. Lauding players for bare minimum. We just got battered and the manager will pick the same 11 in the next match. It's useless following this club.

Completely the opposite for me: - Really like the signings of Gray & Bergvall - Fully expect more signings - Looking forward to seeing what Ange can do in his 2nd season - Looking forward to the Europa - Our business further convinces me we're (finally) doing a proper rebuild

I think quite a few are missing the point of Ange's rant. Bringing up our form is irrelevant - he isn't angry we've missed out on top four. He just seems to fundamentally disagree that we should ever want anything other than to win. That's a good thing, surely? Even if it means

@STU1VENBERG Funny thing is, since the WC break they've beaten: - Burnley H (Champ) - Forest H (15th) - Wolves A (19th) - Bournemouth H (16th) - Everton H (18th) OK, you've still got to win the matches...but they might be getting a bit carried away. Seen talk of a title charge.

I don't know why but the amount of moaning about the PEH fee has surprised me. He wants to go. We want him to go. He cost us £15m four years ago. He's nearly 29. His contract is up in 11 months. Did anyone really expect more than £15m absolute tops? £12m is low but needs must.

The criticism for Vicario is laughable to be honest. A nervy start seems to have been enough to ignore what was a pretty solid performance after the first 15. Couldn't stop either goal, some nice saves, distribution was fine and swept well. But he isn't called Raya so he's shit.

@yiddogus I like it - feels like an under promise and over deliver type thing. Takes the pressure off the recovery and means we see players sooner than we expected. Also stops the tedious ranting about our medical team.

Glad of the shift from "I hate the January window" under Hitchen to "We see every window as a chance to improve the team" under Lange. We did need one or two more this summer but seems like we wont be against adding some more in January. A LCB / LB and a Back-up GK maybe?

@Canyouhearthed1 @CDEccleshare Exactly. That's a yellow card all day long normally. He even committed another foul after that and still got away with it.

@KBothouse @TomYoungSJ VAR definitely can recommend a ref has a look to see if a yellow be upgraded to a red. Has happened on plenty of occasions. You're thinking of a yellow card only offence. VAR won't say "maybe that should / shouldn't have been yellow."

@AVFC_AndyC Spurs need a right back? We've got Porro, Spence, Royal and Gray (when needed) at the moment! We definitely don't need Matty Cash even if Royal does join Milan.

Here comes the latest excuse for a meltdown! Feels a reasonable approach to me - our budget isn't infinite & we still have a number of gaps in our squad. At this stage, I'd rather they bought 4-5 quality players (e.g. Maddison, VDV, Romero, Porro) at 30-50m over one superstar.

@TheSpursWatch Does anybody really expect us to be spending "Crazy money" in January? Which clubs do - other than maybe Chelsea? It's more guesswork - just like Ornstein the other day. Maybe best to just wait and see what happens before everyone throws their toys out?

I'm on board with the sentiment of not wanting to hand Arsenal the title by beating City...but surely people aren't serious when they say Ange and the players "will face backlash" if they win or draw?! Winding our rivals up by saying they'll roll over is great fun but surely

@HS04BOY @fesshole I'm so sorry. Some of the stories on this thread have been heartbreaking. A quick skim through twitter during a coffee break has genuinely left me in tears! Have kids that are 5 and 6 so has hit hard. Makes you really appreciate what you have. Hope you're doing OK.

@Johnyboylufc @thfcjoshx This. The stats tell us that victims of domestic violence will often go back, but I won't ever be able to get my head around her Dad's acceptance of it. My daughter is only 6, but if anyone did that to her in the future no amount of money on the world is buying my acceptance.

@HotspurEdition Personally I'm not willing to write any of the new players off based on this season. From start to finish it has been a mess - injuries, a team low on form and confidence, manager churn, and most of them getting inconsistent minutes. All deserve a chance under the new manager.

Disappointed with the result and frustrated with the goals we conceded but I think we were the better side today and should really have got something from that game. They didn't have many chances but took almost all of them - we didn't, and were denied first half by the

@fullback03 Where players are signed from has no bearing on how good they are. Alli was from MK Dons Walker - Burnley Eze - QPR Kante - Caen Olise - Reading Robertson - Hull Bale - Southampton Plenty more examples. By contrast, Royal was from Barcelona.

@JacoCats I think it's a solid window. We went into it knowing we needed a CB and another forward option and we got both. We've also moved on some players that needed shifting and been proactive with managing our loan players. We've been busier than anybody else has.

@_ThatStat Definitely way too early - we've not even had the CL final yet and the players leaving on free transfers haven't even seen their contracts expire! I think we'll see at least a couple of arrivals by the end of June.
