Proud and grateful, words will never be enough to thank everyone who was part of the journey and helped to put Labour on the map in Croydon South.
Looking forward to a weekend with the wonderful ladies in my life who kept me going throughout.

Here we go again, like the Sue Gray report hoping that by saying there’s an investigation that people will forget about it and the anger will fade.
The investigation happened, a huge fine was imposed and overdue taxes were paid. What else is there to investigate?
BREAKING: Rishi Sunak has asked new ethics adviser Sir Laurie Magnus to investigate Nadhim Zahawi tax case, as there are "questions that need answering".
@supertanskiii
Because that’s what people with (Labour) principles do. During lockdown I started a mutual aid group in my town. We had 4000 volunteers and through thatwork I was introduced to almost every local Labour Cllr as they stepped up to volunteer.
Guess how many Tories I met….
Croydon South MP had the chance to vote for higher investment into local schools.
He decided to vote against Labours policy.
I have a young family so making sure that schools in Croydon South are properly funded matters to me & many residents like me.
I am honoured and humbled to have been selected tonight by local members as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Croydon South.
It was a hard-fought campaign. I'd like to thank the other candidates
@NDIrons
,
@paulwaddell
&
@JessHammersleyR
for the positive campaigns they ran.
We go again! Wasting no time between now and the general election we want to make sure as make people as possible have the chance to hear the positive vision of change from the Labour Party.
Change only comes if you vote for it.
Great to start our Saturday session with so many amazing people coming to join us today as we get out and talk to residents about Labours plans for croydon and the country.
We have 33 days to win the election and deliver change for the country.
Thank you to every person who joined us in Purley today
Amazing responses, so many highlights, especially the man who came out of his house & crossed the street to tell
@RachelReevesMP
how much he wanted a Labour government
Croydon & the Country are ready for change
#win24
One last session of the day, waiting for the final numbers but we must have knocked at least a few thousand doors today.
Croydon South is ready for change and people know only Labour can deliver it.
I knocked on a door today and the lady said to me, there weren’t enough ‘real people’ in politics.
Watch this from
@darrenpjones
and you will see more evidence that the next Labour government, if elected, will be made up of ‘real people’
The last Labour government changed my life.
Let’s do it again for the next generation.
Vote for change on July 4th.
Vote Labour.
My Bristol North West election campaign message 👇
What a day! The penultimate Saturday before the general election and we had so many conversations and heard so many residents concerns.
Residents are desperate for change and they know the Conservatives can’t deliver it.
July 4th is the day the nation decides. 5 more years of
Lovely to be at the Old Coulsdon Village fair today, a day spent with these two is always well spent.
Great to catch up with East Coulsdon Residents' Association - ECRA and The Coulsdon Community Partnership as well.
Thank you so much
@DavidLammy
for coming to join us today in Coulsdon.
Your support for me from the day I was selected has been fantastic.
It was great to have you out talking to residents about Labours plan if we win the election
The countdown continues, with another full day of canvassing and letter delivery.
I’m so unbelievably grateful to everyone who’s knocked on a door, delivered a DM, spent time in the office organising all the threads of work.
But also everyone who’s stopped me in the street to
2 years ago on New Years Day at this spot I asked my partner to marry me (it was also the day I told her I wanted to do more for the Croydon community)
2 years later we went back with our newborn baby and spoke about our plans for the year ahead. What a journey we are on!
Do we go again? Yes we go again!
Just had someone stop me in the road who two hours ago said he wasn’t voting because ‘they are all the same’
But because he’d seen the hard work we’d put in he had changed his mind and was on his way to vote for Labour.
Every door matters
@tomhfh
But 75% of them are now part time a huge decline over the same period.
As a ‘journalist,’ did you not research this post? Or did you know the facts but ignore elements as it didn’t suit your narrative.
I am proud & honoured to be on the longlist for Croydon South. I live here, I run my business here and I’m raising my family here.
Being the first Labour MP here would be a privilege.
Croydon South needs change and I’m launching my campaign to deliver that change
#BackBen
After more than a decade of cuts to funding in Croydon, the Conservatives had the chance to to give a fraction back with their ‘levelling up fund’
Instead they funded town centre regeneration for Rishi Sunaks Richmond Constituency
A crushing blow for communities across Croydon
Starting Sunday right! Today we are out talking to residents across South Croydon.
With 26 days to go until the election every single vote will matter. Come and join our campaign and help to secure a labour government.
Thanks to
@elliereeves
and everyone who came along today
Residents across Croydon South, this could be the reality on July 5th.
But only if people who don’t want 5 more years of a Conservative government get out and vote for it.
Vote for change on July 4th. Vote Labour.
Thanks to all the council leaders, mayors and councillors who joined todays session talking to residents in Croydon South about Labours positive vision for Croydon and the Country.
We have a chance to deliver change on July 4th but change only happens if you vote for it.
Blown away by the support tonight so amazing to see so many people come out to support the Croydon campaign.
Thanks so very much to
@LabourSJ
for the overwhelming support.
Sharing a stage with these amazing MPs is very overwhelming.
@TulipSiddiq
@HarrietHarman
Well here we are, the final day before polls open. We’ve started our day talking to commuters and parents about Labours positive vision for the country and Croydon South.
So many people agree that we need change.
Tomorrow you get to vote for it.
Vote Labour
People of Croydon, we need you. Spread this map far and wide, it’s a map of volunteers across the borough, we need more of you to help those who currently need assistance. Fill out the form to let us know you can help:
Yesterday we got the campaign off to a flying start, with only 39 days left to win the General Election, will you join us and kick out the Conservatives to give the country the change it needs.
Amazing to be joined today by members from across london to officially launch our campaigns.
It’s an honour to stand beside
@NDIrons
and
@LabourSJ
and fight together to win the general election and deliver a labour government
Great day speaking to residents today talking about A New Deal for Working People

✅ Ensure a genuine living wage
@labourunionsuk
@UKLabour
Attended the launch of
@SadiqKhan
’s campaign today.
Hearing about what’s already been achieved during his time as Mayor against a backdrop of austerity and division was one thing. But the thought of what could be achieved with London Labour May and a National Labour Govt. Wow
Thanks to everyone who joined us tonight talking to residents in Riddlesdown
A great team out having multiple conversations and discussing residents priorities.
Such an honour to be appointed by the Prime Minister to be Minister of State for Industry and Decarbonisation in
@biztradegovuk
and
@energygovuk
.
Lots to do.
My favourite photo of the campaign
@BenJLTaylor
with a giant change board, wearing a rosette and a suit
He is an amazing candidate, puts up with my “demands” about rosettes and placards and works bloody hard
Not once have I heard him moan, not even when I knocked his coffee over
Great start to our Sunday joined by two amazing candidates
@elliereeves
and
@LabourSJ
We will be out all day talking to residents in Purley, answering questions and letting them know about Labours positive vision for the country.
Thanks to
@DavidLammy
and
@LabourSJ
for joining us on the campaign trail this morning.
Spoke to many voters excited about change on July 4th
Highlight was a voter I’ve spoken to twice who’s decided Labour are the choice after reading the manifesto.
Out with the team in South Croydon this morning. Solid support for Labour with lots of people saying they’ll be voting for Labour and voting for change.
Lovely canvassing session out in the sunshine today talking to residents who are starting to make their decisions on who to vote for.
If you are still undecided and want to know more about my plans for the local area or Labours policies please get in touch.
Fantastic day out campaigning with
@mgshanks
in Rutherglen & Hamilton West.
Great to meet the passionate and motivated
@ScottishLabour
team and speak with voters who recognised that change was needed and would be voting for Labour, many for the first time.
#FreshStart
Great to be out in Uxbridge this morning talking to residents about the amazing
@DannyBeales
and the change he represents for their area.
He couldn’t be more different than the MP he’s fighting to replace and Labour couldn’t be more different than the Conservatives.
A fantastic day all round, lovely to spend some afternoon time with the family as my beautiful baby girl goes for her first proper walk outside.
Not going to lie, she would make a terrible canvasser. This was a slowwwwwwww walk ❤️
Unbelievably grateful to the residents of New Addington this evening who put their faith in me to be their Labour candidate for the elections next year.
The Labour team in New Addington are ready to show residents why Labour is the only choice locally.
The end of another amazing day speaking to residents across Coulsdon. Thanks to everyone who came out from Croydon and Beyond.
From Old Coulsdon to Coulsdon town, residents are telling us it’s time for change.
Don’t risk another 5 years of the Tories. Vote Labour on July 4th
ULEZ wasn’t raised once in hundreds of conversations.
What did repeatedly come up was how damaging a 15% rise in Council tax was going to be for every house in Croydon South.
If you really want to do something for residents here delay that increase.
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us for our second day speaking to residents about A New Deal for Working People
✅ Ban zero hour contracts
✅ End fire and rehire
✅ Strengthen sick pay
✅ Better rights at work
✅ Ensure a genuine living wage
@labourunionsuk
@UKLabour
Productive start to the day joining Purley Bid on their regular litter pick before popping in to the Purley Food Hub to chat to the team about how they are helping families over the summer break.
Thanks to everyone who joined today and everyone who engaged in a conversation with the team.
20 days to go until the general election and we want to speak to as many residents as possible about Labours plans for the country and what’s important to residents in Croydon South
Another great day out talking to residents across Purley. Even the floods throughout the day couldn’t dampen our spirits or slow us down.
19 days to go until the residents get to decide if they want 5 more years of the Conservative government or change with the Labour Party.
Chris seems to be of the misguided notion that when the nation voted for change they were actually voting for Labour to carry on doing exactly the same.
They didn’t. And Labour don’t plan to.
Holding the Govt to account for their bad decision to stop new oil and gas licences in the North Sea - which will increase energy prices and make us more dependent on potentially unreliable overseas gas sources
Another amazing session joined by the fantastic
@elliereeves
and supporters from across london.
We are out every day talking to residents, who are telling us that change is needed.
Don’t risk 5 more years of a Conservative government, vote labour on July 4th.
Great to be out in
#Coulsdon
this morning with
@BenJLTaylor
and a fantastic Labour team. 🌹
The choice at this election is clear: 5 more years of Tory chaos and decline or a vision of change with Ben and a Labour Government.
Vote Labour on 4th July for a brighter future!🌹🌹
Day 2 of the flying start weekend, great to be joined by
@SteveReedMP
and members from across London.
Thanks to
@Oscar__Harman
and the team from Streatham and Croydon North.
Help us make history and deliver 4 Labour MPs in Croydon
Another strong result by Labour in the bi-election.
Swings of this size are exactly what we need in Croydon South to take the seat from Chris Philp and send the Tories packing
The chaos caused by Chris Philp & the Tories can’t continue. We need a Labour Govt to fix their mess
Our yearly ritual on New Year’s Day to the top of Farthing Downs where I proposed
It’s a special place & the walk there & back helps to think about the year we’ve had & get ready for the year ahead
Lots to look back on in 2023 & even more to look forward to in 2024
#win24
Another great night out tonight, talking to residents in Hamsey Green and discussing the options at the general election.
5 more years of chaos with the Conservatives or change with Labour.
The choice is clear.
Join the campaign for 𝑩𝒆𝒏 𝑻𝒂𝒚𝒍𝒐𝒓, 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝒊𝒏 𝑪𝒓𝒐𝒚𝒅𝒐𝒏 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉, 𝒕𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒎𝒑𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑩𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒂𝒊𝒏.
Together, let's ignite change and pave the way for a more inclusive and 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔
Ending the day as we started, getting out and talking to residents, understanding their situations and answering their questions about what a Labour government would mean for them.
After a Sunny morning canvassing in Sanderstead listening to dozens of residents tell us they couldn’t vote Tory in the next election, you start to really believe this could be the result
Come and be part of history as we turn Croydon South Labour for the first time ever.
An especially moving dusk procession of ‘A lamp light of peace’
To see so many people come together to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D Day was very heart warming.
Wet start to the week chatting to residents at local stations throughout Croydon South.
Lots of smiles when we discussed the changes a Labour government could bring to the local area.
What a night! Coulsdon Town hosted a fundraiser for the Labour campaign to win Croydon South and it was an absolute blast.
Great food, great company, wonderful staff and a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
Thanks to everyone for organising, attending and giving so generously
Here we go again, still lots of groups out as I head out for my third session of the day.
The final result is croydon south is on a knife edge, if you don’t want to wake up in July 5th with 5 more years of a Conservative government join our campaign.
‘Aren’t politicians all the same?’
Nope.
In 1999, New Labour launched ‘Coming In From The Cold' to tackle homelessness.
It included money for night squads, hostels and mental health team
Homelessness was cut by two-thirds and the number of people sleeping rough fell by 75%
@ElaHeeley
Thanks, important to make clear. As is the fact that £15 ph minimum wage being discussed is for those over 18.
So comparing a teen being able to pay for your own meals to an adult supporting a family misses the point. Hopefully a mistake on your part that you can now correct.
