I run Master Replica's Star Trek, Doctor Who, The Orville, BSG, The Expanse and Foundation collections, write Trek books, made trading cards and figurines.
Today’s unreleased
#startrekships
. As you can see, the U.S.S. Annan is another one that’s ready to go. I’m always amazed at how flexible the basics of Matt’s design are. Liking and sharing will help show interest in getting these released.
#StarTrekDiscovery
OK - things are moving. Sign up at so you can get news about the old Eaglemoss stock. We're still going through it – it's in lots of different places but the plan is to start putting it up within the next month. Pls spread the word.
#startrek
I was going to wait until tomorrow before posting more unreleased
#startrek
ships, but here’s one for the weekend - the
#StarTrekLowerDecks
shuttle. This one is heading for a good home -
@MikeMcMahanTM
. As always liking and sharing can help persuade people to make them available.
Here’s the next unreleased
#startrek
ship. This is one of the Mars ‘Defense’ ships that the Romulan use in the synth attack in
#StarTrekPicard
season 1. Liking and sharing will increase the chances of it getting released.
#startrekships
I am no longer an Eaglemoss employee! so I am finally free to talk about what’s going on. This has literally just happened so I want to say two things. The first is that I am so sorry that Eaglemoss’s communication has been non-existent. It’s terrible and I can only apologise.
Sorry slightly belated today (lots going on). Here’s your next unreleased
#StarTrekDiscovery
model. This is one of the more exotic ones - the USS Curie. I’d really appreciate likes and shares since they increase the chances of getting these released one day.
#startrekships
The Armstrong is one of my favourite designs from
#StarTrekDiscovery
season 3. This one is tooled and ready to go but didn’t actually enter production.
#startrekships
Here’s the Armstrong with the saucer the right way up! School boy error - as I said, it’s been a long week! And one of the disadvantages of floating parts.
#startrekships
The
#StartrekPicardSeason3
art dept made my day (again). That Klingon cloaking device in ep 6 is based on the Haynes Manual for the Bird-of-prey that Rick Sternbach and I wrote. I always dreamt that some of the stuff we created would get made canon. Thank you
@DaveBlass
So I have some good news. I’ve been talking to the people who bought all the old Eaglemoss stock and they’re going to be offering it for sale online at regular prices in the new year. I’m helping them work out what it is and will let everyone know what is - and isn’t - available.
Almost news: someone I can’t name yet is taking the license to make new Star Trek ships. I am optimistic about ships from other shows but this is further behind. It may be that they turn up with more than one company.
Since I am (temporarily I hope) unable to make new
#startrek
ships for you, I thought I'd share some of the things I know about them and rare pictures. Let's start at the beginning: here's the Enterprise being filmed for The Cage in 1964. Note the bigger deflector and bridge dome
I’ll be talking to
@TrekMovie
and
@trekcore
and a DW site soon but in the meantime let me say that people behind the scenes want the Star Trek ships, Ent-D, Doctor Who figurines and all the other ships to continue and I will do everything I can to make sure they do. Be hopeful!
The second thing I need to say is that there are people who are interested in taking over the build ups and the other models. It’s too early to make any promises but people are trying and we’ll do everything in our power to make sure these projects continue. CBS are supportive.
I’ve felt like this quite often in the last six months. I’ll share pics if unreleased things over the next couple of weeks in between any bits of news.
And we're here! The news you've been waiting for - Planeta DeAgostini have taken over the rights to the buildup Enterprise. You'll be able to pick up from any issue. It's exactly the same model. Visit to sign up. Lots more info to follow! Spread the word.
If this is legit - and the signs are good - this is a VERY big deal. It seems the original three-foot model of the Enterprise turned up on EBay yesterday. It’s been missing since TMP. Fingers crossed.
Matt Jefferies finally finds his USS Enterprise. After exploring dozens of alernatives, most of which Matt 'ash canned' he and Gene finally had an Enterprise they were happy with. As you can see Matt was already thinking about a refit!
#StarTrek
Here’s the next unreleased
#doctorwho
figurine - this is one of the Flux ones - Passenger. The usual drill: please like and share to show interest and see if we can get them out there for people to buy.
#dwfc
.
I haven’t been giving progress updates on what’s happening behind the scenes, and I still can’t because nothing is final, but I’m confident that October is going to be a good month, where we start to see some announcements about former Eaglemoss products. Keep watching…
Her name is Erica Ortegas and she flies the frick in' ship! This week's
#StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds
is still excellent. We got to talk to
@melissaCnavia
last week for
@NanaVisitor
's book and she's as every bit as great as her character.
Master Replicas bought all Eaglemoss’s die-cast stock - classic, specials, XL for all brands. Site is coming soon! I don’t want to promise a date that gets missed but weeks not months. No-one has the rights to manufacture new ships - at the moment! I’m optimistic this will change
You all know the story about the Reliant right? It was originally the other way up but Harve Bennett signed the blueprints upside down. No-one knew if he meant to turn the ship over or not. This is what it was originally going to look like.
NEW STAR TREK! This might be the best news of the year. I've known about it for a bit and have been desperate to say something! It sounds pretty much like the show Gene pitched in 1965 finally makes it to TV complete with Number 1. It makes me very happy.
The next unreleased Doctor Who figurine is Group Marshal Stike. We had this planned as
#dwfc
224. As always, liking and sharing will help to show interest. I don’t think this one made it into mass production.
More unreleased DWFC figs in this case from ‘The End of Time’ (literally). This is one that was definitely manufactured so I’m optimistic it will be available before too long.
#DoctorWho
#dwfc
Today’s unreleased
#DoctorWho
- an Axon monster. As always, likes and shares will increase the chance of making this available. This would have been 230 and I particularly like it but I am of that generation!
#dwfigs
Well, that worked. The whole cast can sing and dance (and several of them have lovely voices) but most importantly it was about something - they did what a musical should do and explored the character's deepest emotions.
I’ve been thinking about Picard, which I thought was great. It seems like the most grownup and ambitious Star Trek since TWOK. What I liked most was the vulnerability that they’ve brought to Picard. He is the same but more human. The same is true of the whole Trek universe.
Here’s what I can say as of now. 1) one company has bought the existing stock of the ships and figurines. I’m working with them to set up an eShop that will launch in the New Year. The plan is to sell everything at regular prices. I’m looking at the stock now. More news in 23.
I’ve gone to America for the
#StarTrek
convention so no new pics of unreleased stuff for a bit (but work continues). Here’s one
#DoctorWho
fig that I’ve got in my phone - Azure. Liking and sharing will prove there’s an Interest in getting them into mass production.
#DWfigs
Gorn! And before anyone complains about continuity, rewatch ‘Arena’. There’s nothing there that says they hadn’t made contact before. The design of Gorn ship isn’t in the database and Kirk hasn’t personally seen a Gorn, but that’s all we know for sure.
The Enterprise was always meant to have shuttles – the clamshell doors at the back were for the shuttle bay, but
#startrtek
had transporters so no-one needed to build a shuttle. Matt had ideas tho. he wanted a teardrop shape that fitted in with the Ent. This is what he designed.
This is a bit of a day for me. In a matter of hours will launch their final sale for Eaglemoss ships. When they’re gone that will be it. There’s all sorts of Star Trek stuff in the offing for me, but the Eaglemoss ships will be done. I started work…
Here's today's instalment from the files: another Enterprise concept. As you can see, Matt was still thinking about keeping the engines away from the body. This one would evolve into the more famous ring ship concept.
I have finally added the starships from Star Trek Picard to the Federation fleet chart, which has therefore grown enormously. Speaking of sections that have not seen an update in years, I think Star Trek + Design deserves an EAE Award. Congratulations,…
Quick question - what ships do people want most of all? We have to prioritise stuff. I know some people have almost all of them but the big ships like the Enterprises, Defiant and Galactica sell really well. So what are your priorities?
Today I discovered that an Eaglemoss Star Trek model went into production that I thought was stuck on the drawing board - a ship that has never been released anywhere. Only it turns out it was in the US warehouse...
News part 2: all the existing stock for ships and figurines has been freed from the warehouse and will make its way to stores between now and the end of the year. A little bit was still in China and will take longer.
I've been going through stock. It's complicated but I thought you might like to know that definitely has a few copies of the U.S.S. Maui. Not many, but there are some. Not sure when they'll go on sale yet, but sign up and we'll get you some advance notice.
I'm still thinking about this display! I think it might be the best ever (happy to be shown otherwise!). I wish we'd had something like this at Eaglemoss but we never did. It was an odd company - the creative people were passionate but it was run by the marketing and money people
I thought I'd share some stuff from my files. Here's one of Matt's early sketches for the Enterprise. He was trying to steer clear of anything that looked like a rocket ship. He had the idea the engines would be dangerous so should be kept apart from habitable areas
Ira Behr needs your help. They’re trying to transfer as much DS9 footage as possible to HD for the doc. Give money, spread the word, be part of history. The footage looks so much better it’s not true. Let’s her the word out RETWEET even if you never do!
I am hugely touched and I know Fabs would have been. It’s more than I ever expected and proof that there are good people in the world.
@BradinLA
@MikeMcMahanTM
this is a cool thing to have done.
Sorry for the spoiler, but seeing a lot of love & wanted to clarify: this is the Sabrerunner-class USS Passaro, honoring the late Fabio Passaro, who was a part of the Lower Decks extended family for years via his work at Eaglemoss. We hope this tribute would have made Fabio smile
Everything in life takes a little longer than you’d expect. Official news is still a little way away but here’s an update: licenses have been signed to take over the buildups and work has started on bringing them back. News very soon - just hang in there a little longer.
Hmm, interestingly he has captain's armbands. We'd previously assumed that Kirk was only promoted to Captain when he took command of the Enterprise but there's nothing conclusive on screen to say either way.
Paul Wesley is joining the cast of ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.’ Wesley is starring in the iconic role of James T. Kirk in the second season of the Paramount+ drama series
Here are shots of the original model at Film Effects. Herb Solow thought the ship was designed by Chang, but I'm not sure. It has definite elements of Matt Jefferies thinking. Chang was a genius but the producers weren't impressed by the model which was never filmed again.
There’s an email going out tonight about a restock on . There are 7 ships they managed to find more of including a few - but not many - Titans. There’s some stock of both STO ships and the XL Ent-E too…
The Flyer’s dimensions were always a bit of a problem. When we commissioned our cutaway (left) Rick Sternbach hummed a bit and explained that the reader compartment they’d built on set wouldn’t quite fit in to the exterior. And the flyer shouldn’t fit through the shuttlebay doors
@TrekMovie
@TrekCore
Thank you all so much. I've been overwhelmed by the kind words. I've been doing interviews and podcasts today. The message is that I'm trying to rescue or resurrect all the projects. Being able to show interest is key when approaching new companies so pls follow me for news.
A third early Enterprise concept. At one point Matt thought about designing the ship with a ring around a central spar. This design was picked up on in TMP when Rick Sternbach created an artwork showing a similar design on the rec deck.
Here we go. Some slight changes in the original stock listings - you have to wait a little for the Orville and the Ent-C but they will have the XL NX-01.
NEW — Master Replicas is finally bringing Eaglemoss' stock of
#StarTrek
starship models back for collectors to bring home in a series of limited sales beginning March 19... and here's what's up for sale in the first wave!
Read more:
After an email from
@TerryMatalas
we supplied the Picard art department with 50+ models. They were mostly Ent-Ds but there some others in there. Sadly none of them were models you couldn’t buy. The art dept had some models of their own and - I think - customised some of ours
5) There are good reasons to believe that someone will produce new Star Trek ships that haven’t been made yet. I hope to be involved with that. It takes a long time though so we won’t see new ships before late 2023 at the earliest. It’s more likely to be 2024.
I have hopes for all the new ships that never got made - to my mind the Protostar, new Dauntless, the Stargazer, Titan-A, the Eleos, the Farragut and the Intrepid are all classic designs and I want there to be models of them. I have good reasons to be optimistic. But be patient!
I guess many people won’t realise just how classy this is. There’s a cost to fulfilling every order. You have to pay the warehouse. So it’s not just the stock that you’re giving away - you’re actually paying to do it. That makes honouring something like this extra admirable.
Ok so as people have seen the Holoship was priced in error at $0.00. This was an error by one of the team.
But as a sign of good will,whoever placed an order for one of these (212 of you did) will receive it (only 1),we will stand by the error & it wont be cancelled
The second alien ship to appear in
#startrek
was the Romulan bird of prey. The model was made by Wah Chang and was one of the first things to be filmed at Linwood Dunn's Film Effects on the Desilu lot. We built our own model for the ships collection shown here with the original.
Frustratingly, Master Replicas have had to delay the launch a couple of weeks. So you’ll see the time has gone back. It’s all to do with making sure they’ve got all the stock they think they have and getting it to the right place. It looks as if there’s some of almost everything
Stumbled across this today - Leonard Nimoy looking as if he belongs in a British Indie band from the 90s. There's something very satisfying about seeing people in such a different light. Not sure he'd have had the haircut if it wasn't for
#StarTrek
6) You will have to sign up to receive emails from both these companies. I’ll let you know how to do that once it’s up and running. In the meantime I’ll be helping both companies and will try spread the word.
Here's a comparison of the physical USS Centaur model from "A Time to Stand"↖️, the CG model recreated for the Star Trek Magazine ↗️ and the Eaglemoss magazine ↙️ and the Centaur-type ships seen in
#StarTrekProdigy
's "Supernova, part I". The Eaglemoss model clearly was used.👌
@TrekMovie
@TrekCore
The priority is the buildups. I hate the thought of anyone being left with an incomplete model, but I am optmistic about more ships too.
Somehow
#StarTrekStrangeNewWorlds
is getting even better. It was pretty damn good in the first place, but now it’s starting to be great. It has swagger. If you can’t tell I really liked the first episode of season 2. (But that isn’t a Crossfield-class ship 🙄).
When Matt was designing the Enterprise, he wanted to steer clear or anything familiar such as rocket and flying saucers. He figured that a sphere was the perfect shape for space, so he drew up several designs that used it. But the design didn't feel right, so he abandoned it.
I am very sad about the Lower Decks cancellation. I hope the story isn't over, but I swear that we will make Lower Decks stuff! We have some fun ideas.
If we get the
@voydocumentary
to $1 million it will draw some serious attention and - I think - open doors for more. Even a tiny pledge will help. Spread the word to anyone who might be interested and show the world how much love there is for Trek
STRANGE NEW WORLDS has the chance to be one of the purest forms of Trek since 1969. In some ways it might be even closer to Gene's original vision than TOS. IF they make an episodic series with ideas at the heart of every episode they'll be giving me the Trek I want most.
(Almost) finished setting up at
#DST2019
. I have to say this year’s booth is very pretty and lights up! Come by, say hi, meet
@ricksternbach
and Ryan Dening - the men who designed do
@many
ships in the first place.
2) A second company has taken over the build ups. They are close to making an announcement but aren’t quite ready. I’m working with them too. You will have to confirm where you want to start your subscription again. More news soon. This will be a new website.
What a lovely thing to wake up to! I kind of knew it was in there, but you’re never certain. We helped the production by sending some ship renders over and this was a little thank you.
Here's a close look at the USS Stargazer's turbolift duty roster from
#StarTrekPicard
's "The Star Gazer" plus a few screenshots showing the roster (to the right of the Stargazer graphic). You might know some of its crew! :-)
