@AdversusN 60’s nostalgia good, bad, and in between has always for better or worse influenced politics of the Baby Boomer generation immensely and it by extension does their younger siblings, cousins, kids, and grandkids. I’ve come to understand better my Dad’s 60’s wasn’t everyone else’s.

@magi_jay I really think Trump and Musk dominating their party message resulted in this frankly childish interpretation of how American power should operate globally. Yes, having an amazing military helps but programs like USAID helps immensely and imo obvious they’re a TM punching bag.

@ok_post_guy @NoneLizard Yeah it gets at an outside observer of modern tech philosophy or whatever you want to call it about tech but I think it forgets the human element that makes tech well tech. Algorithms, software, all impressive but human element always matters. I’ll always love live music for ex.

@NoneLizard @ok_post_guy I always will defend the importance of the human element in tech. I oft work with interpreters. Given a choice prefer face to face over the phone. I’ve also used language translation apps. They have technological usefulness obviously but ftf makes communication truer and direct.
