NEW: NM drops the gun enhancement charge because the new law wasn’t in effect when the shooting happened. The state contends they dropped it because of the litigious nature of the defense and doesn’t admit their mistake.

I've handled defamation cases. The standard is so high that it's an easy case to lose via motion for summary judgement without even getting to a jury.
