I shall chop!” But the yew gave a wiggle—it told me to STOP! “Not in the spring! Not when I grow! Not when my berries are starting to show! Trim me in summer or late in the fall, But snip me too soon, I won’t like that at all!” So I put down my shears, I gave it a bow, “Dear Yew, I shall wait—I see it now!” It swayed with a chuckle, so wise and so true, So don’t prune too early, or you’ll sadden the yew!

We received a question from Andrea in Bellevue about watering trees, shrubs, and perennials during the winter months. This week, temperatures are expected to be in the high 40's to low 50's across the state. This will be an ideal time to give your plants a drink. Just make sure the water is soaked in by midafternoon, so a layer of ice doesn't form during those overnight freezing temperatures, which would cause future issues. So, if you have the time, give a good soaking to your lawn, trees, shrubs, and perennials to keep them healthy during this dry winter across Nebraska. For more info, check out this video:
