A meeting was held with Icelandic Amb. to Sierra Leone, Deputy Amb. & Dir of Intl development. We apprised Icelandic team about work of IFRC in addressing climate & environmental challenges. Icelandic RC through MoFA has been supporting Pan African Initiative for TPC in region.

A meeting was held with the president of Guinea Bissau along with NS Leadership to discuss auxiliary role, signing of legal status agreement, and national society development. The president highly appreciated the important role of IFRC in supporting humanitarian work of the NS.

Today held a meeting with MoFA in Guinea Bissau(RGB) & @ifrc signed the Legal Status Agreement with RGB . This is an important milestone for our humanitarian work in Guinea Bissau. This agreement provides more space, protection and flexibility to operate and support communities.

A meeting was held with H.E Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau to discuss auxiliary role, National Society Development, and importance of signing legal status agreement. The PM highly appreciated efforts of IFRC in support of NSD, as well as HD, and strategic & operational coord.

A Team Meet was held for Freetown Delegation to take a stock of achievements, challenges & lessons learnt from year 2024. An open & candid discussion led to setting up targets for year 2025 by addressing any gaps and challenges observed as a team. A highly productive team meeting

A meeting was held with Guinea RC leadership for a closer look at National Society Development, humanitarian diplomacy, Auxiliary role, collaboration with public authorities and other stakeholders. A highly useful review of achievements of 2024 and measures to cover gaps in 2025.

A meeting was held with H.E. Prime Minister of Guinea Bissau. We discussed auxiliary role of NS, need of enhanced support & partnership between government & NS. Areas of focus will be addressing climate induced humanitarian crises, epidemics & community resilience.

Along with NS leadership, a meeting was held with minister of health for Guinea Bissau. Auxiliary role of NS, core cost funding, possibility of mobile health clinic, & joint contingency plan were discussed. Minister appreciated efforts and support of IFRC for GBRC.

A meeting was held with the Secretary of State for communications to finalise discussions on signing of legal status agreement for IFRC in Guinea Bissau. The State secretary was briefed about various clauses, needs and implications. Legal Status is expected to be signed tomorrow.

Today met Guinea Bissau RC SG, President, board members and staff. Discussions revolved around options for domestic financial sustainability, aux role of NS, Branch Dev, UF plan launch followed by a partnership meeting. NS leadership deeply appreciated & ack the support of IFRC.

A two days planning session is in progress. Liberian RC is one of 15 priority countries in Africa for unified planning 25. Prep & readiness, PAIs, way of working , scaling up, digitisation, financial sustainability are areas of focus. All stakeholders are part of planning process

A tragic incident. Great effort by the NS during the entire operation.
#SLRCS assisted families affected by a building collapse incident in Freetown by providing ambulances and volunteers for safe burials. The collapse on July 22, resulted in three deaths and multiple injuries. Volunteers conducted search & rescue operations and provided first aid.
