This is called "Dhikr" im Arabic and "rememberance of Allah in English. Rasūl صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم advised us to do Dhikr in Authentic Ahadith. Allāh mentions dhikr in Quran. So this is not againts Quran and Sunnah. Your shallow understanding is. Learn before you post.
