It was a great honour to be one of two foreign Ambassadors invited to speak at @mofauae meeting of the UAE's global network of Ambassadors and Abu Dhabi-based heads of mission. A great opportunity to talk about the mutual strategic economic benefits of our CEPA with the UAE. Another highlight was catching up with UAE Ambassador to Australia HE Dr Fahad Al Taffaq and his wonderful family.

It was an honour to be invited to be a speaker in the panel discussion: “Redefining Global Trade: How CEPAs Are Driving Economic Transformation.”
The third day of the 19th Forum of UAE Ambassadors and Representatives of Missions Abroad featured a series of panels on ‘Global Risks: Challenges and Opportunities of 2025’, which addressed future global variables and their impact on development, as well as the anticipated challenges. In addition, participants discussed the effects of technological innovation and digital threats. The day concluded with a reception ceremony focused on reshaping global trade and the positive impact of CEPAs. The sessions brought together UAE Ambassadors and foreign Ambassadors accredited to the UAE, who attended the forum together for the first time. These sessions underscore the UAE’s commitment to reinforcing peace, security, and global prosperity. #UAEAMBFORUM19

Yesterday, Jessica and I hosted a good old fashioned Aussie bbq lunch at the Residence for the @VictorianOpera cast and crew of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (which is playing @DubaiOpera). It was a wonderful opportunity for our embassy team to catch up with an amazing group of talented Australians. We were treated to a fantastic rendition of the show’s theme song. From children’s author, to leadership advisor, to successful historical fiction writer, we were delighted to have the opportunity to share stories and experiences with Megan Hess, fashion illustrator and beloved children’s author of Claris, the Chicest Mouse in Paris, @tywiggins, author of The New CEO and @PipWilliam58241, author of The Dictionary of Lost Words.

It was an honour to introduce South Australia’s Minister for Trade, Local Government and Veterans Affairs, The Hon. Joe Szakacs, to HH Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airlines. The recently resumed daily direct flight between Dubai and Adelaide connects South Australia to the UAE and allows for more people and fantastic Aussie exports to enter the Gulf region through Dubai. @Emirates @joe_szakacs

I was thrilled to welcome The Hon. Joe Szakacs, South Australia’s Minister for Trade and Investment, Local Government and Veterans Affairs to the UAE last week and accompany him to meetings with the CEOs of @Emirates @DubaiDET and Australian business leaders. His visit was well-timed to capitalise on our recently signed Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with the UAE. The agreement will open doors for South Australia's world class products and professional services into the UAE. Increased aviation links will enhance freight and people-to-people links. @joe_szakacs

Tonight the iconic Burj Khalifa in Dubai - the world’s tallest building - was lit up with the Australian Flag in recognition of #AustraliaDay. A wonderful tribute to our bilateral relationship and a great way to kick off the 50th anniversary year of our diplomatic relationship with the UAE.
