Yep. The Japanese are very tetchy about game streaming. They don't want people making money by advertising (streaming) their game. Even if they vaguely tolerate streaming, JP game companies believe showing too much of the game gives spoilers, thus reduced sales.

What most folks want are accurate but readable subtitles. What we don't want are instances where the translator/adapter decides to just add jokes, rewrite things (and ultimately get stuff wrong), etc. 'cause they think they know better than the source writer.

I doubt it. There may be a tiny increase in folks turning off their AdBlocker, or paying for Premium, but I suspect most folks when hit with the "You cannot watch 'cause you are using an ad blocker" notice will just leave, like they do with other sites that prevent ad blockers.

Green screen isn't the problem. Most films use it. The scene took 2 minutes to film. But it took who knows how many hours to create the CGI and make it look decent. The problem is that CGI folks often aren't given the proper amount of time to make the CGI look really life-like.

2) Hate to break it to you, but a LOT of "mainstream" mangaka started in various forms on hentai stuff, or still do hentai stuff on the side.

That's the problem -- multiple servers. If the JP game just made an English UI as an option, like many Western games do for JP, then there'd be one server and we'd still be playing. And no 2-year lag either.

Hahaha! FX's Shogun did exactly that -- make it their own. It wasn't like the 1980 version, which was simplified and some scenes had to be modified due to technical limitations of the day, but kept the spirit of the novel.

The Global (English) version of the game is separate from the JP version of the game. As such, the Global version was barely making over $100K/month, whereas JP does ~$4M/month. JP Devs don't care about gaijin market, which is why their games have no English UI option.

There's a large push in Japan to increase censorship across the board, and there's outside pressure from the West to become more woke. Ken Akamatsu (Love Hina, Negima!) got elected to office to try to stave off some of this. Anime today is FAR more censored than it used to be.
