Hi all! This account has gotten a lot larger. I would like to remind everyone to use the hashtag and the bot for asking questions. As the name suggests the purpose of this account is to boost questions so that people who have ADHD related questions can get answers.
Hi everyone! Just a reminder that the bot automatically retweets
#AskADHD
. The intention of this platform is for those seeking help and looking for answers to be able to connect to the community, so I'd like to ask that we avoid using the tag for self-promotion. Thank you!
Questions can range from trivial to serious but please avoid self promotion or using the hashtag to boost other content. Moving forward, I will unretweet repeat offenders. Thank you!
This account retweets
#AskADHD
and
#AskingADHD
, mentions alone and replies not included.

Hello world! I was inspired by
@AskingAutistics
#AskingAutistics
to create a similar platform on twitter for ADHD folk so that it will be easier for those of us who can't remember where they left their phones to ask and answer questions in one place.
UPDATES: This account now retweets
#AskADHD
and
#AskingADHD
because I realised it seems like people use both
#ADHDtips
was requested for, but I find that tag a bit cluttered to retweet. Are people interest in sharing their tips? I might add
#ADHDhacks
if that's the case
1) Background
I set this account up largely on impulse after seeing the
@AskingAutistics
account and talking to
@lilririah
. I found that there are a few ADHD communities on twitter, but I thought it'd be nice to have a place to gather and ask questions.
Hey, so yesterday we had our first troll or at least very unwelcome person who used the # to tweet something about curing ADHD through prayer. Obviously, I would not like such things to appear here, so I immediately blocked them. Do let me know or DM me if things like that happen
Please let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions. I'll see what I can do. My activity on this account may be sporadic, but I'll do what I can!
Fun fact: my display picture is an enamel pin of an ADHD brain scan.

2) Guidelines
Thus far, I don't think there've been any issues - I'm quite happy with how the community that has grown and everyone has been very nice. 😊
One request I have is to put content/trigger warnings if you want to ask a question that might be sensitive.
Hi all, this account has grown quite a bit and so I'm contemplating how we can improve use of the
#AskADHD
tag. In general, I don't intend to manage what people choose to post here, but I am wondering how we can make this a more conducive platform.
1/
In general, I'm not going to block people who come here out of good faith but I also want to try to make sure that this is a safe space for ADHD folk to discuss their issues.
I will probably have to organise them a little but just gathered everything I could for now.
I can't tell if I've gather too much for some and too little for others. Again, feedback is welcome because I've gone too far down this hyperfocus hole to know what makes sense 🤣
Sooner or later I also may make a list of ADHD accounts who have generally helped me understand ADHD better so if people want to recommend people I would love to hear it too
For me:
@HowtoADHD
@blkgirllostkeys
@ABCsofADHD
@Finnattentive
Pretty sure this bothers the ADHD community less since we kind of have to live with it haha 🤔
(unless you developed some kind of anxiety around inattention/spelling)
@ADHDelaide
This is the reason why I decided this account should retweet both AskADHD and AskingADHD... I get the feeling some of us will get it wrong permanently in our heads 😅
fun new meme?
Hello I have [x] and I am currently [x]
Hello I have sensory processing issues and I am currently recovering from some noises I heard involuntarily two days ago
@commaficionado
Secondly, are there some questions that may be deemed inappropriate/offensive/triggering? So what may be some guidelines to make sure questions are safe and appropriate?
3/
A few collections I had in mind but didn't manage to find anything comprehensive for or can't organise:
1) living with ADHD
2) ADHD and medication
Please suggest any other collections you would like to see.
I appreciate any feedback that anyone has to give and if you're not comfortable replying, feel free to DM. I'm hoping we can continue to build a conducive platform for us all! Thank you 😊

@OrganizeFISH
I want to point out that this is not entirely a "you" problem. It's likely they aren't clear on their own expectations or aren't communicating them well, so that needs clarification. I hope this helps!
@Finnattentive
I get what you mean! Always open to feedback and I guess it depends on how big the account gets too (I'm not going to assume either way haha). I'll keep it as is for now unless anyone says anything.
Third if content other than questions are okay, what kind of content can we share here?
E.g. Invites to discords or other communities/events, ADHD related content etc.

@beckylubera7
@ADHD_Alien
Yes I love Pina! Actually, I wanna ask her if I can use some of her art as the cover photo for this account (was working up the courage)
@OrganizeFISH
I face this problem quite a bit myself. It's a non-linear thinking problem: whatever task you are being assigned, it's probably a hammer and nail situation to your boss. i.e. They have a very specific and straightforward solution or way they want things done.
@kegelsneezer
@ThinckFinck
I'll be damned if I actually remember when I set this up. I think it's been a week. Time blindness + isolation is a great combination.
@QueenOfTheWilis
@SoSayethBob
I suspect if caffeine makes you jittery that might be anxiety related. Anxiety disorders affect attention snd restlessness, but plenty of ADHDers have anxiety too. A thread on alternative medication:
3rd line ADHD meds (guanfacin, clonidine) have a role regulating anxiety, feelings, and sometimes, RSD. They're supposed to make executive functioning better, but they usually have the opposite effect, because they take away a coping mechanism for Executive duysfunction: Anxiety.
@AQueerPanda
Well, here's a sneak peak of the ADHD starter packs I'm putting together, you can take a look and see if it helps
Unofficial signs:
Explaining ADHD:
@AQueerPanda
Absolutely. Probably inattention?
I drop words, mix up the order, mispell them, use the wrong word etc. But dropping words is the most frequent mistake I make
not a question- just shouts out to my adhd-certified home organizer who came over to help re-org my kitchen cabinets. then while she was here, took everything expiring soon out of my pantry and put it on the counter so i would eat it before it goes out of date. i luv her

Feels so weird to suddenly be surrounded by loads of posts when I spent 40 years undiagnosed/untreated/unsupported, being punished & humiliated for my symptoms. Trying to access decent help as a late-diagnosed adult is impossible too unless you have money.
#FailedAgain
@Finnattentive
Haha neither is in use very much so I figured it wont be too cluttered. I thought both would be good in case our working memories fail and we forget what the hashtag is 😂
But okay I definitely won't add more
Ever managed to insult and offend when your intentions were good?
Choosing the wrong words, for example, or not giving context.

I have skills/a support network to manage my executive dysfunction. I'm just curious to learn more broadly about how it develops in people. Trying to understand it on a more fundamental level.
@Rinsuu1
Personally, I would say I eat just to have the physical sensation/motion of chewing sometimes
Also, executive dysfunction and working memory probably can contribute to binge eating
Lastly, do you think moderation is needed? I personally would prefer for tweets not to be moderated but if this account continues to grow, it may be necessary.

hyperactivity can be internal restlessness as well as or instead of external - particularly in Adults. Does your brain feel like it’s on a constant spin cycle of whirring thoughts?

#ADHDAwarenessMonth
I mostly created this account on impulse yesterday because I thought it'd be nice for ADHD folk to have a shared platform on twitter. Would love to hear what people want to see here.
