Product mgmt is incredibly heartbreaking. All those times you need to say no- 'No, I'm sorry that's not on the roadmap', 'No, this may not be the right product for this customer yet.' Often when we 'give workarounds', pls remember our hearts may be breaking inside. Pls be kind.
Took my parents to the IISc Bangalore campus because dad studied there. After, they wanted to go check out the house they lived in then. Small problem though - all they remembered was it was in RT Nagar. After 32 years and massive change in scenery, that piece of information

They did actually. They asked for his university ID card 🥲 it took a few conversations with the head of security who finally agreed to let him in after seeing his Defence ID. So not easy, no. Would help if you knew someone.
10 years of product mgmt! Back then, it was a vague role - esp in India. There were no frameworks, limited guidelines or mentorship. We listened to the voice of the customer, looked at data and generally stuck to first principles. Fortunately, that approach still works best.
I knew moving from working on a product with thousands of customers to building for a startup would need a mindset change. Yet, the biggest reminders for me have been surprising because seeing them play out in your favour is hugely powerful.
One, pricing plays a big role in how

Today, we’re excited to release Command-R, a new RAG-optimized LLM aimed at large-scale production workloads.
Command-R fits into the emerging “scalable” category of models that balance high efficiency with strong accuracy, enabling companies to move beyond proof of concept, and

I've seen teams mix up MVP with mediocrity. By all means figure what the top things to build are, but build them spectacularly. If there are arguments around cutting corners to a point where users struggle to achieve the goal, then that is not an MVP, that is a mediocre feature.
Excited to announce

For AI apps, UX is very key.
One issue that bothered us at

for a long time was slow or missed slot-fill in forms due to SOTA models latency until we moved to Command-R from

We want equal opportunities, equal pay, a sense of safety and maybe, I dunno, basic human rights? Knocking off 100 bucks on an LPG cylinder on women’s day is insulting and just furthers the narrative that a woman’s place is in the kitchen.
I spilt coffee all over my Mac last week. I’ve lived in stress, waiting for something to go kaput. But all that’s happened is that my keys crackle when I type now, and one sentence later, I get the aroma of coffee. You should all try this, it’s amazing.

Handling 'Small talk' in your AI-copilot
It often irks my team that we have to spend a lot of time getting Atom, our AI co-pilot for employees, perfect Small Talk. Is that even an enterprise use case, they ask. And I wonder the same. But here’s where I think Small Talk is an

We often say we take data-driven decisions. Hopefully we're making more data-informed decisions - ones where data supplements our experience, judgement & the context. Subtle but important difference - is data making your decisions, or are you using data to make decisions.
Conventional ITSM is no-longer the focus for IT buyers! Leaders now care about end to end automation - powered with integrations and supercharged with AI.

My favourite lines on these calls (not)
- You want to add anything to the roadmap? She’s right here.
- That one feature you said would be kinda nice to have but you could live without? Great time to explain why it’s really important to you
- Do you want delivery timelines for
The best way to hone intuition for your product and your domain -
1. Dog-food your product, work with it like an end user would
2. Talk to your customers, prospects and GTM teams - this should never stop, it's easy to get lost in strategy and day-to-day stuff but nothing
Thinking about Lupin today. Why didn’t he reach out to Harry first two years of school? Wouldn’t Harry have loved to meet his parents’ friend, hear stories about them, learn he had an uncle-like figure in his life (with a last name that wasn’t Dursley?) Sigh.

I’m at the entertainment store; when someone picks up a Harry Potter wand, the first thing they do it is brandish it around, you know, just to make sure it feels right. It’s cute. What’s the first spell you’d think of? I thought ‘lumos’.
I’ve been mulling over getting a tattoo for a while. Last night I had a nightmare that I did. Nightmare, because the tattoo was ‘carpe diem’ written in comic sans font.

An often overlooked way to build product sense is consciously examining a UI or UX pattern in a product you use regularly, and question why might the product manager have chosen to implement it that way. In the context of their business model, use case and customers.
If you're struggling with execution and alignment, question if your team has clarity of purpose. The number 1 reason for execution challenges is ambiguous outcomes. Any discussions about the 'how' of something are moot if the 'why' is ambiguous.
Reminds me of the time a colleague played a real cruel joke on me a fine Saturday morning in 2012. He called me, the intern, to inform me my code had broken production. I guess you never forget your first production break. Even when it didn’t happen.
We mistakenly sent out an empty test email to a portion of our HBO Max mailing list this evening. We apologize for the inconvenience, and as the jokes pile in, yes, it was the intern. No, really. And we’re helping them through it. ❤️

I do think it gets challenging though, when your product starts getting usage for multiple use cases or different verticals. If you take a large product (say with 150K customers ;)) - you’re solving different pain points for customers in a variety of domains.
