@SAM_Milo_uk @peopledisplacer @PsychopigUXB No. It really is a lack of tech. But if you have an affordable, safe and quick to deploy system that will save more than it costs, get in touch with the signalling companies quick. I'm guessing you haven't. A bit of reading on signalling and train control would help you here.

@elonmusk ...and the good it could do. In the UK we criticise the BBC, often with good reason, but when the shit hits the fan and we need accurate and impartial news, that's where we turn to because at its best is really is magnificent.

@PeachyCicada @BenjaminOCall Did the government spend it? Far more likely it was private funding during the Railway Mania.

@ScotRail That's gonna foul the loading gauge, isn't it? Think the designers of this HST replacement need to think again...

@jambohels @fifeenv Thanks ever so much for sharing, Helen. I'm sure many will want to pay thanks for Allan's life and share their memories. With your permission, I'd like to share to all interested.

@sc_wadsy @JayMitchinson And, as a good friend who once dealt with some of the vilest people imaginable pointed out: prison was far worse for them than death. That would give them an escape from punishment by society.

@AlisonHernandez @Copperhull @CouncillorTudor @laurencereed @MrJustinLeigh @HMNBDevonport We're very lucky in the SW in that we still have a good local and regional media. But the BBC's cuts to local budgets are really short sighted. We need quality local journalism - and that requires investment rather than chasing the chimera of sensationalist clickbaiting.

This is what politics should be: recognition of sensible policies and constructive criticism. Far better for the country than the pantomime we too often see. And we need our opposition to do this: hold govt to account and say what it'd do differently. Good show, Jeremy.
There is always political flack for abolishing targets but @wesstreeting has done the right thing today. Here’s a short thread on why…

@BenMaguireNC Let me guess. The words 'commercial' and 'confidentiality' will be used in the response. I'd like to know how much it's costing taxpayers in ongoing subsidy too. But good show, Ben. It's weird that there's so little info publicly available.

@BBCCornwall Good. Adds very little to journey times, reduces the chance of hitting vulnerable road users and if the worse happens makes the consquences less severe. If two extra minutes going through the likes of Hayle makes a difference, set off two minutes earlier. Not hard.

@BBCCornwall @TheAnoushkaW I doubt any local driving through a tourist hotspot hasn't had someone inadvertently walk out into the road in front of them. If driving at 20mph rather than 30 prevents an accident or in the worst case makes it much less severe, what's the issue?

@Copperhull @CouncillorTudor @laurencereed @MrJustinLeigh I’d rather have a fully funded local radio network and sacrifice some of the crap broadcast on the telly for it, frankly.
