mostly the Browns, occasionally other things | writer/podcaster @BrownsFilmBreakdown reach me at [email protected]

Imagine covering up for Deshaun Watson for years, providing him with NDAs and booking hotel rooms, then throwing him under the bus when it became clear he wanted nothing to do your franchise, and then taking victory laps about it. NFL owners really are the worst fucking people.
Yoooo Hannah McNair ROASTED the Browns on the Ultimate Fan pod. “Thank a Brown. Have you thanked a Browm lately?. I thank em for all of our players” 💀

Martin Emerson even got snubbed from the list of snubs!. This is ridiculous!!.
#Bills QB Josh Allen and #Bucs S Antoine Winfield Jr. lead the list of players who missed the cut for the Pro Bowl❗ . Who's this season's biggest snub? 🤔 . More on #PFN365: #NFL | #ProBowlGames

Twice in this clip, Parsons makes sure to reference losing an award with class. Right at the top, "I'm not a sore loser". Later, "When I lost to TJ, I didn't say I was snubbed, I just went to work". On top of that, he's dead right on the facts of his argument. Very impressive.

He should pick someone experienced, like a retired federal judge. This person could hear arguments, review documents, and deliberate for a month. Then they could produce a well-reasoned 16 page report summarizing their judgment. Someone should suggest this.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will pick someone outside the league office to hear the Deshaun Watson appeal, as @ProFootballTalk said. Why? My opinion …. 1) Gives the NFL a better shot at avoiding court. 2) Better maintains integrity of the process they negotiated with the PA.

Add in the fact that apparently Watson and Cooper drew that one up during the game based on the coverage they were seeing and you start to feel what a franchise quarterback could be like in Cleveland.
the throw was fantastic but it’s Watson feeling the rush, stepping up in the pocket and resetting his feet that was equally as important. stuff that you only get back with reps

He has made himself a laughingstock with this quote. Understand that he would rather lie publicly about what happened on the play than admit a mistake. It's entirely consistent with the player and the person we've come to know over the past three years.
On the failed fourth-and-1 play late against the Giants, Deshaun Watson said TE Jordan Akins, who was open in the flat, was a “decoy” and not supposed to get the ball. He said the Giants made a good play jamming the WR and alluded to making the same read on the second TD drive.

The story of the season for Cleveland so far is the confidence and swagger with which the defense is playing. To celebrate that, I cut together a clip of all the instances of #Browns defensive players celebrating on the All-22 against the Titans. It's 45 seconds long. Enjoy

Another injury that the player aggravated by continuing to play, just like Alex Wright. The Browns training staff is a complete disaster.
#Browns coach Kevin Stefanski: Tackle James Hudson III will go on IR with shoulder injury. Hurt against Giants, aggravated the injury since then.

Kimberley Martin is close with Andrew Berry, so the timing of this is certainly significant. I would consider this the first strong hint that the owner hand-picked the QB and is forcing the team to play him no matter what.
The Browns are in Year 3 of this experiment. $230M gtd. And a bunch of 1st Rd picks used…. Benching Deshaun would signal Jimmy Haslam completely whiffed on this QB — and I don’t see that happening…

If he's gonna start this week, I hope he gets the start next week at home too. Deshaun Watson and the entire Browns brass deserve to hear what the fans think of the QB and how we feel about what they are doing to us by trotting him out there every week. See you on October 20th.

The #Browns just turned a player they added to the practice squad for free last September into a player the Patriots drafted in the fourth round last year. A credit to their development program for offensive linemen.
This is also why the Browns invest so heavily into their offensive line depth. Can flip guys that may not even make the roster into players that can help other position groups. Wonder if Nick Harris gets traded next.

@Browns This happened because the NFL made the Browns play two games in the middle of an outbreak, unlike previous teams who had games delayed. The NFL is at fault here.

I know there's the Twitter thing where we all retweet an article and get excited about it, but probably a lot of people don't actually dig in and read the thing. I get that, there's a lot going on. You GOTTA read this one. Top to bottom, every word.
Cleveland, you’ve had my back and now I’m ready to pay it forward. This one is for you. 🧡 @PlayersTribune .

Look at this literal PFWA member throwing a tantrum because the team he likes doesn't get everything they want all the time. Literal toddler behavior.
Honestly shoutout to T.J. Watt for saving fans the trouble of sitting through an awards show just to watch a guy that he’s better than get awarded something as a nice “here ya go, buddy.” Award.

Most of Browns media has no feel whatsoever for the NFL at large. After playing two top-10 DVOA defenses, DTR gets the 32-ranked DVOA defense on Sunday. Sure it's on the road, but he's going to look a whole lot better.
There’s no belief whatsoever in DTR from the media right now. Even Zac Jackson has the Browns losing 9-6 on Sunday.

Oh apparently we're doing "what if the NFL turned injuries off".
@AndrewSpayde @ItsTimTorch You're smart enough to use DVOA. Check the Bengals while Burrow was healthy.

Yeah, this is it. The Browns are a team with a truly awful quarterback. The players know better than anyone. They've known since the spring that Watson can't do it, we're just catching up with what they have known. The remaining question is when leadership will pull the plug.
we can flip it & blame it on this coach or this position group but the Browns look like a team with a bad QB. but the only time in the stefanski era we have seen the offense look like this is when they started a 5th round rookie on 2 hr notice and Watson.

The fetish Watt backers have for using color to indicate which number is higher is the funniest part of these comparisons. Without the green, I'd never be able to decipher this chart. Also, check the date. These needy, validation-seeking losers have been doing this for years.
Aaron Donald is an absolutely incredible player. I love watching him play & he’s headed to the Hall of Fame without question. This has nothing to do with AD personally. This is me saying what my brother won’t. TJ played 1 less game and STILL led the NFL in every major category.

When a team that was supposed to be competing for a division title is so bad that they're a seller by Week Seven, I am not giving you any credit for getting a third rounder in return. This is depressingly necessary but mostly a sad commentary on where the Browns season has gone.
Sources: The #Bills are trading for #Browns WR Amari Cooper, sending a third-round pick in a pick swap. Full details:.BUF gets WR Amari Cooper and 6th in 2025.CLE gets 3rd in 2025 and a 7th in 2026

I hate to be the "AKSHUALLY" guy but. Deshaun Watson was fine in the first half. He played a good game against the Ravens, period. There are only a half dozen throws at most that I would say were negative grades. I break down all of his throws in the first half here.
The narrative is set in stone by now. Deshaun Watson was terrible in the first half and nearly flawless in the second half. Is the first part of that narrative true? @AndrewSpayde says it wasn't as bad as we all remember.

If hired, Ryan Crow would become the DC-in-waiting in my opinion. As my colleague @_PeteSmith laid out at the OBR, Crow has a varied resume and is a young rising coach. He could represent a fusion of Schwartz and Vrabel's philosophies.

The defense was going to regress from 2023 to some extent. But how else do you explain the poor effort & focus across the entire team other than these guys have been seeing this QB in practice for three months and they know he can't do it. There are no secrets in the NFL.
Devin McCourty makes an excellent point about the Browns defense checking out because they know they can’t win with the QB. Back to back games against the Giants and Raiders they gave the offense every opportunity to win the game, and they couldn’t. Looked defeated today.

This is a definitive compilation of all the missed holding calls on Garrett from this Sunday. I'm glad this is finally getting national attention! Thanks Baldy!.
.@Browns @Flash_Garrett gameday with the Beast! Is any one player game planned more in this league than Myles. While the “sack numbers” arent his best the rest of the defense benefits every week. You make these calls. #dawgpound #BaldysBreakdowns

The Cleveland Browns broke the Pittsburgh Steelers
Sources: Steelers WR Diontae Johnson got into a heated post-game locker-room argument last Sunday with teammate Minkah Fitzpatrick, before Cameron Heyward and T.J. Watt broke up the altercation and delivered a message that the team needed to stick together.

No extension talks had taken place. @JackDuffin say it with me. POVERTY FRANCHISE.
#Bengals WR Tee Higgins has, in fact, requested a trade, as @AdamSchefter said. The franchise tag is meant to keep long-term talks going, but Higgins' camp had no such talks before the tag was administered. Now, a trade request.

Maybe I'm naive, but I think the glimmers we saw from DTR in the preseason are real and he can still be a good NFL quarterback. He's going to be ready for this challenge on Sunday. I believe.
The #Browns are planning to start rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson at QB this week vs the #Steelers, barring a last-minute change of heart, sources tell @BleacherReport. PJ Walker would be DTR’s backup. The team announced earlier this morning that Deshaun Watson will undergo

The Browns being in the market for a receiver after adding Moore, Tillman, Goodwin, and Akins in the off-season is really perplexing. The data tells us Moore and Cooper and Njoku are open. Receiver talent is not the problem with the offense, I don't think.
What you need to know before the NFL Trade Deadline: .1) The Broncos are not open to trading cornerback Patrick Surtain II, in fact, one team source described him as “the best and smartest player on the Broncos roster.”.2)

After the Dolphins choked last night, the Browns need:. Two losses from Miami (NYJ, DAl, BUF).Two losses from Baltimore (JAX, SF, PIT). & they play each other. Plus, one more loss from KC (NE, LV, CIN, LAC).
Getting the #1 seed would be massive for #Browns due to their home/away splits. Listing to @AndrewSpayde doing the numbers on @TheOBR post game show, he reckons 12-5 could get it done 👀. vs Bears.@ Texans.vs Jets.@ Bengals. With how mental this season is, you can’t rule it out!

Elliott left as a free agent, signed by the 49ers. Bell is likely back with the team on the PS tomorrow. Emerson is one of the best young corners in the game. Far from being bad, Berry has actually been above average in the third round.
Berry 3rd rounders:. 2020.Jordan Elliott - cut. 2021.Anthony Schwartz - cut. 2022.Martin Emerson.David Bell - cut. 2023.Cedric Tillman.Siaki Ika - cut. 2024.Zac Zinter. That’s almost impossibly bad, but “Impossibly Bad” should be the motto for the new Browns.

Obviously the next question is who will call plays. I fully expect the Browns not to answer this question immediately, which makes analyzing this hire harder. I posted this when he was interviewed, but Buffalo's offense was actually worse under Joe Brady.

Yeah, this is the reality of the NFL. The league sees what is happening in Cleveland and it negatively affects how players and coaches view the organization. I simply don't believe the organization will be in a good place after 17 games of Watson.
It’s incredibly shitty to do this to the rest of the team. Joel Bitonio is out there every week playing through who knows what and has to wreck his body when they have no chance of being good b/c of the QB. Myles Garrett is playing in pain every week. Feel for everyone else there.

@GarageBeersMike What does "drafted a highly rated Wills" mean?. Greg Newsome is a below-average outside corner that they are playing at nickel and Emerson has gotten exposed multiple times this year. Neither Newsome or Emerson are locks to be extended, especially if the GM changes.
