Players don't want to struggle, it's okay to expect more but never to threaten them or their family, I am confident the vast majority of Mariner fans believe this as well.

It's a sad day at KJR, both Puck and Jim are people I always looked up to as a Seattle sports fan and it meant the world to me when Puck gave me a chance to work at this radio station. For that, I will be eternally grateful and they both will be dearly missed.

They shouldn't need to clear payroll space though, this team was below average in payroll last year and the expectation was once you got a decent core that it would be supplemented with established veterans, not replaced by them...
The only way this trade makes any sense is if the vacuum of payroll space cleared is then filled by an established player acquired via trade who carries a hefty salary, or a free agent that would need to be paid an exorbitant amount to come to Seattle.
