Everyone wants to hear that they can have whatever they want. But few want to hear that they'll have to do what it takes to get it. Define what you want. Map the path to it. Step by step.

@Zen_UK1990 💯Of course the hero was afraid of the dragon. That's the whole reason it was slain.

Do something every night to make tomorrow a little easier to slide into. Write a task list. Lay out an outfit. Prepare.

Read it, write it. Get back on the path. Really, do what you want with it. Maybe don't read it naked. Nasty papercuts, and all that.

@martinfpavey 😂I imagine that's what many people who suffered through Socrates' questioning felt like!

Revel in a bit of both from time to time, would be my suggestion. “The pendulum of the mind oscillates between sense and nonsense, not between right and wrong.” - Carl Gustav Jung

I sometimes wonder if others in online courses are equally as diligent in their note-taking.

I would say that yes, it is writing, but of a different sort. There's something a bit more intimate and tactile about writing by hand. A good mechanical keyboard (or any keyboard you enjoy the feel of) may be a solid replacement for the tactile aspect, but there are a few other things to consider. Each letter, when handwritten, subtly conveys a little extra personality - the hesitance, the pressure, the quick-scrawl or the tediously drawn letter, etc. When typing... pick a font. As I originally mentioned, the olfactory sensation is there as well. I'm too tired to cite much now, but I believe there's a plethora of research into memory benefits of handwriting, as well. To me, the keyboard is just a few steps removed. Don't get me wrong. It definitely has its place, and I wouldn't hold it against anyone for preferring a keyboard over handwriting. I'm using a keyboard write now, and because of my typing speed, I'm writing this comment in the time it would take me to hand-write perhaps only three or four lines. Great question! Thanks, @PaulEnu_

Base self-esteem on evidence over affirmation.

If you want to gain self esteem quickly. Do something that you think is impossible for you. You do not have to become an astronaut. Instead do something that is a challenge for you. Once you see you can do it, or give it your best shot. Then self esteem is natural.

"Dance when no one is looking." That's easy. Dance when everyone is not only looking, but perhaps judgmental and intentionally misunderstanding. Courage. This has nothing to do with dancing. But dance, too.

@brockpierson I've went by Ancient in games for as long as I remember (representing my old-soulyness). Sometimes the name is taken, and when it is, I add my initials to the end.

The best stories aren't ones published for mass consumption. They're intensely personal stories, both light and dark, that people are terrified of sharing until they encounter a space of understanding and empathy where they find the courage to tell it. Love good stories? Be that space.
