A proud teacher day, these are my phonics results for every half term. Today we tested for summer 1 and I now have 100% of my class at ARE or above, 61% of which are exceeding 🥹😍 so proud!
Today I found out I got 68% on my Masters dissertation 🥹 just 2% off distinction level, so just a little wait to see if I get a merit or distinction overall (will be very happy either way!) Feeling incredibly proud of myself! 2 years of hard work has paid off 🥹
My annual birthday card teacher tip! I always give each child in my class a card on their birthday! Today I got 28 cards for €4 on card factory! Just think it’s a sweet personal touch that always makes the children feel special ☺️
So exciting seeing all of teachers moving to Dubai to start their UAE teaching journey! This time next week I’ll be on my way back to the best city in the world ready to start my 3rd year there! 😍
Day 1 back done! My 5th academic year in Dubai is underway! ✅🇦🇪
It was lovely to catch up with colleagues and meet new colleagues! Looking forward to an exciting year ahead with my new Year 2 team.
Too busy for any photos today 😅 but classroom prep is well underway! 💚
This week I turned 27, handed in my Masters dissertation and accepted the role as MSC & World Cultures lead for the next academic year. What a week! Looking forward to celebrating with all my friends today! 🎉🛥️😁
This afternoon I had the most amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity to listen to Dr Jane Goodall speak. It was moving and incredibly inspiring. A day I will never forget and another reason why I feel so lucky to work at
@ArborDubai
and have wonderful opportunities like this! 💚
Makes me laugh when the children repeat things you say as a teacher. Today another teacher pointed out that the class next to us were talking during assembly. A boy from my class turned to me and said “well that’s very disappointing”… wonder where he’s heard that 🤔👀😂
Spending our Saturday evening planning something exciting! If anyone has any recommendations for the Philippines please let me know! We’re thinking of the below route and will be there for 2 weeks! Tell me you’re a teacher without telling me you’re a teacher… making a trip PPT😂
We’re back! A fantastic first day with my Year 2 class! I taught a lot of these children last year so it’s great to see them and catch up about their summers and to meet all my amazing new children and see them all bond and make new friendships on day one! Already very proud 💚
I am currently on a flight from Saudi back to the UAE. At 6:05pm (Iftar) the man sat next to me gave out dates to everyone sat around us and then also started pouring coffee into small cups for everyone. Sometimes it’s small acts of kindness that make a big impact 💚
Loving this new little entrance area I’ve made for my classroom! The children and parents love seeing the photos in frames as they come in. A small, inexpensive touch that makes a big impact 💕
Added a contraction challenge to my environment this morning as we started learning about them this week. Always so proud to see the children applying their learning independently 😍 also how easily would this fit into a KS2 classroom? Continuous provision shouldn’t stop at KS1🫶
22-23 that’s a wrap! This year has absolutely flown bye! A sad day leaving the Year 1 team but an exciting journey ahead moving into Year 2 in August! 🌻🌼🌿💛
And just like that my first year at
@ArborDubai
is complete! I have had the best year working with incredible colleagues and of course my amazing class! See you in August Arbor! 👋💚
Yesterday the Year 1 team were out in force to watch our beautiful colleague and friend get married! Congratulations to Katie & Mina! Such a fantastic day celebrating love 💖
Probably the most boring tweet you’ll see today, but I was far too excited to see by building shoot has now changed for recycling! It won’t open until you select which bin it’s going in to! Genius 😅
Baggage update: I called
@AerLingus
who said they couldn’t confirm if my bags had arrived in Cork or not, so I drove up to the airport and luckily they were there! 🎉
To we are celebrating my incredible LSA’s birthday! I could not do what I do without her! She is the most amazing support and friend. Thanks for everything Miss Maybe. Happy Birthday 🎉🥳🎂🎁🎈
In the last five years, I have taught…
2018 - Year 2
2019 - Year 1/2
2020- Year 1
2021 - Year 1
2022 - Year 1
Back to Year 2 in August! Maybe one day I’ll venture into KS2 or EYFS… 🫣😅
What year groups have you taught?
👀💭🗓️
Today one of the children in my class moved up to turquoise level reading books. He came back in the classroom excitedly telling all of his friends he’d moved up to “tortoise level” 🥹 little moments like this always make my day! 😅
Today we created the seven continents! The children can now confidently name and locate all seven continents. We then added some key features to each continent! The pizza in Europe is a personal favourite for me, or the seven Burj Khalifas! 🌍🍕
Vietnam 🇻🇳
What an incredible country! Too many photos to choose four.
The best time exploring Hanoi, Ninh Binh, Ha Long Bay, Da Nang, Hoi An, Ho Chi Minh and Phu Quoc! 🌴🌊🌸
This afternoon we got the see our incredible primary LSAs present their research projects. LSAs worked in groups to research an area of literacy/ communication & language. So much work has gone into this, it was truly inspiring to see all their ideas and research

7 years ago today I got my A level results and after a lot of thought made the decision to change my uni place from paediatric nursing to primary education. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
I moved to Dubai in Jan 2020. This week made me realise there are people I see regularly that I had never seen without a mask; colleagues, parents of children in my classes, the amazing lady that does my nails, and more! 2 and a half years later it’s amazing to see their faces!
The first day of the school year! Incredibly happy to be working with the most amazing LSA again this year, Ms Maybe! Our first day was a huge success, getting to know the children and parents and creating trusting, positive relationships. 🤍
El Nido! What a beautiful last stop! We’ve had the best time in the Philippines. Has to be one of my favourite countries I’ve ever visited! Memories to last a lifetime 💙
Walking back to class today and I hear “Miss Amy, it’s so hot outside, I think it’s 43 kilograms” 🤣🤣 these are the moments I live for as a KS1 teacher!
Tomorrow is World Bee Day! 🐝 to celebrate, Year 1AB have learnt about the important job bees do and how honey is made! We have tried different types of honey and even tasted dried pollen! 🐝🍯
Long time no tweet! I’m really enjoying Y2. My class are amazing, very engaged and always excited to learn! I had really lovely feedback today from a 20min drop in. I am so proud of how they engage with anyone who comes into our classroom, eager to show what they’re learning ☺️⭐️

Today’s highlight of the day: my class trying to pronounce the word ‘aluminium’. The cutest thing ever 😍
Not so much highlight of the day: discussing the difference between light and heavy, my class writing my name on their ‘heavy objects’ list 🙃
Realised I hadn’t shared what I was reading for a while! Here’s my most recent reads. I would honestly recommend all of these books and think they are all 4 or 5 ⭐️ reads!
Every year I’m blown away by the work and creativity our LSAs put into their action research projects! Lucky to work alongside so many inspirational people! 🍃🔍💚
